Negeg
Laughter started it all. With his joy letting the flowers bloom.
Light flared as he breathed, beating away the darkness with every exhale he took.
Negeg, who made the world out of nothing and made it into an artist’s dream.
His love echos in the heartbeats of the people.
His love echos in the pattering of the animals.
His love echos in the bloom of the plants.
Negeg emerged from the darkness from the selflessness in his soul. He gave us all from the spark in his heart.
Prayer to Gengen Wer
He who hatched from Nu,
The lively goose, Negeg.
His chatter awoke maat, his call awoke the sun.
He crafted the wings of the solar bird and took flight into the dark
The sun lit up the world as the two called for love and joy to reign.
He crafted the heavens, the earth, and the underworld with his colorful image.
He is the creator, the craftsman, who created everything to his liking.
His delight brought forth the Ogdoad, the rulers of Khemenu, building them one feather at a time.
He took the petals of the sun to create the horns in which the sun sits upon.
He took the sun’s rays to sculpt the uraeus that protects the sun.
Negeg, the one who lives and breathes with every flutter of his wings.
His heart is maat, his chatter is maat, his breath is maat. This is what he has granted humans and gods.
Maat is gifted to those he loves and in which he’ll guard, building protections of pure fire to defend the light of those inside his nest.

Information
Gengen Wer, or Negeg, is a minor creation Egyptian god seen in the form of a Nile goose. He’s a force of creative energy and associated with artistic expression. He guarded the great cosmic egg at the dawn of creation, though i’ve read that he, perhaps, laid the egg himself in the form of a goose, becoming self created through his honking call. In the Book of the Dead, the deceased is said to be the gods egg or guard it,
“I have guarded the egg of the Great Honker. It is sound, so I am sound. It lives, so I live. It breathes air, so I breathe air.”
“I am the egg in the Great Cackler, and I watch and guard place that great proclaimed Seb/Geb upon earth; I grow strong, I live, I smell the air.”
“I have guarded the egg of the Great Honker. It is sound, so I am sound. It lives, so I live. It breathes air, so I breathe air.”
In the Pyramid Texts, the deceased is said to fly up to the heavens on the back of a celestial goose.
He’s associated with protection, due to his creation mythos. His creation mythos associated him with Amun, Atum, Ra, and Ptah. His association with Geb made him a protective deity of the earth, where people would wear tailsmans and amulets to remind them to respect life and to honor the earth.

Sculpt a life you want to live by.
Creative writing as an offering to Gengen Wer
Gengen’s “creation myth”
The lord who awoke maat with his honking call laid within the primordial egg in the beginning.
His song pierced the air, alighting the world with his joy as he awoke. His heart emitted the warmth of the sun only for it bloom from the lotus as he opened his eyes. He plucked the petals from the lotus, crafting them onto the sun creating his wings.
Negeg shook out his feathers, cascading them into the water to create the primordial mound for him to rest upon with his son.
Then he spoke “What a lovely pillow to lay upon within Nun, thus I create the first land of comfort.”
With colors ablaze he took flight with the sun, painting the cosmos in the likeness of his heart, his love imbued into the nether. The sun and the goose honked in delight, building the world with their joy- Amun, the invisible one, came forth from his call. Another emerged hereafter, then another, then another, until eight gods sat with the Goose and the Sun: Amun and Amunet, Nu and Naunet, Kek and Kauket, Heh and Hauhet.
Negeg, the lord of speech, spoke their names into existence on the great mound of feathery goodness.
It is then when the Eight, the Ogdoad as they were named, spoke:
“O lord who made us, the feathered one, praise to you,
Father of the gods, our father, who crafted us.
Your chatter made our names which we didn’t know.
How excellent is your love to hatch us forth.
You made our nest upon which we may rest.
Your love sparked warmth and daylight for us all, sparing us from eternity of darkness.
You are the sole god, who hatched the beginning, who flew across eternity, downing the waters with your feathers for us to waddle upon.
Great Honker who awoke maat, you gave us the breath of life that we may stand upon.
Praise to you, great one, Negeg!”
Hearing the great Eight gods speak brought forth such joy from the Sun god that when his tears fell upon the Great Mound they sprung forth people.
Negeg danced in delight, lifting his wings and blowing the color of life into the people’s lungs.
