Quickie for this special day. Eastern Sorcerers have had ways of speaking with the dead for longer than time has been recorded, but it is only possible with one's ancestors.
I'm tied down with a couple projects at the moment, but I did want to share a new character who will hopefully get more stuff soon!
Brother Lawrence
A Culinary Alchemist, his primary interests lie in the realms of brewing and wine making. His current major project is creating the "Millennium Brew" for the upcoming 1000 year reign of Necromancers. Of course, he's starting a few decades early.
Lawrence is a kind man, relaxed and usually somewhat intoxicated. Quick to forgive and assume good intentions.
Really like FUNGER so I drew my characters in the first game's style of lineup, NOW IN COLOR!
Quick bios on our "Heroes"
Adolf Hainzart: He had once intended to live peacefully as a carpenter, but undead aggression saw his home village in ruin. The last man of his clan, the last tender of Frederick's Grove. He intends to continue the line of tradesmen in his ancestral homeland.
He is xenophobic to the point where even other nations of the Congregatio Fidelium are viewed with suspicion.
Christopher De Rochard: The hidden son of House Rochard, forced into knighthood and bloodied from the wars with heretic men of the north. Christopher holds himself to high standards of honour and nobility. Regretting being associated with peasantry and rabble such as Adolf. He is quite willing to compromise, being the one to forgive filthy Rashtalites if they choose to help the crusade.
Geoffrey Rosenthal: An old and skillful monk. He possesses skills of larceny, acrobatics, and key knowledge of how to truly hurt a human without killing them. He has an extensive education on mathematics, theology and alchemy. Though active and nimble, his puny stature and advanced age make him a fragile and weak combatant.
Afflicted with an overactive sex drive, he must take drugs to suppress it or struggle mentally to contain his urges.
Elizabeth Dorset: Concerned deeply over the state of mortal souls, Elizabeth seeks to gain control over her very own from the Gods. Cursed with knowledge forbidden in even Rashtalite doctrine, morality and ethics are just speedbumps on the path to true freedom.
She disdains most authority, but has an unhealthy love for her former professor...
So here they are, as far present (forward?) in time for this necromancer world as my blog has gotten.
Crusaders and Necromancer working together?! Things must be dire.
Because of my current FUNGER obsession I've decided to draw my character in the style of the F&H1 party. I thought it fit well. I'm having fun with these.

The Rashtalite Empire
AKA: Rashtal's Terrestrial Domain
The Rashtalite Empire is a theocratic imperialist state headed by the Prophet and Empress Ztrasa, on the ideal of one day transcending the barbaric cycle of life.
This empire covers the majority of the known world, and has destroyed countless human cultures. From western feudalism, republics, and churches, across the steppe cultures, to the far east to the most populous nations known to man. What remains are the fringes of those strong enough to weather the storm, or those lucky enough to have geography and God on their side.
The Rashtalite Empire is pagan in theory, polytheistic, but prioritizing the God of Life and Death Rashtal, and actively undermining the creator of humanity Virdel.
In this empire there is no underclass. The undead are soldiers as they are workers, mindless drones to be commanded. They work the fields, and perform hard labor. They do not complain, rebel, or ever say no. They do not need to rest nor do they need upkeep.
The primary way the Rashtalites took the world was plague. Zombie bites spread an incurable disease known as "Rashtal's Curse", that cannot be cured by magical means. It spreads quickly, with a 2 in 3 fatality rate, creating a field of corpses waiting to be reanimated and repeat the cycle. Modern advancements have made this slightly more difficult, "Barbers" manage the physical effects of the plague and use the laws of nature to defeat and manage it.

The Necromancer Empire lore stuff. Idk I need to get running to work I'll check back later!
The Duties of Monks and their Specializations
Monks are the backbone of the empire. They are taxed from breeder families, typically taking the firstborn son and indoctrinating him into religious loyalty.
Their position however, well paid and surrounded by knowledge, allow them to indulge in trades and crafts unlike most others, making them the Empire's prime source of skilled labor. These can range from very physically demanding trades such as blacksmithing, to intellectually taxing trades as architecture.
Monks are responsible for preaching Rashtal's tenants to the masses, educating the youth, maintaining temples, and often fill in for jobs necromancers think they are too good for. Under the wrong circumstances, one might end up an over-glorified coffee boy.
Professors have dedicated themselves entirely to academia. They teach multiple subjects and are well-read in even more. They use state/church funding for "science". Hardly anything has been innovated in the past millennium.
Barbers specialize in all things physical to the human body. They cut your hair, amputate infected limbs, prescribe medicine, perform surgery, cure rashes, create antidotes, make prosthetics, --- Just about anything magic can't.
Though many barbers will find themselves gifted in healing magic though high empathy responses, it is rumored a secret society of male healers trains barbers in the magical side of curing ailments. This idea has gained more traction as the different branches of the church fail to work together.
Lore for Fideles homines: Balista (The necromancer setting)
Across the world, where mankind once reigned, the most effective fighting forces were the nobility. Trained from young ages in martial arts, to carry sword and ride atop a steed into battle, they turned the tide in many a battle where the infantry was just a distracting force.
In the years of evil, a new heavy focus on infantry has been made. Selected for time and again in Humanity's constant battle against the undead, drill and discipline are the most effective methods of preparing for battle.
While the undead are tireless, man gets fatigued in the midst of battle. To prevent a total collapse of the front ranks (and subsequently, a rout in the ensuing chaos), the lines are rotated in and out of battle. This system allows bitten soldiers to choose if they shall sacrifice themselves, or take their chances to survive.
The crossbow is the most significant step forward in the history of humanity since the end of the world. The crossbow's ease of use when compared to traditional bows, allows the arming and training of significant numbers of men in a short amount of time.
Women of the Levennes culture take responsibility upon themselves to be drilled and trained in the use of crossbows. Effectively doubling their manpower on the defensive. While the peasantry of the Odoshi successfully led a holy revolution against the emperor.
The cross shape of the lends popularity to those who have suffered the trauma of fighting the undead.
"May my faith be so unshaken that I die upon the cross or in the battlefield. May my body be useless to them, and allow me to return to the earth. Let my ashes feed the trees whose fruit my children will eat."
--------------------------------
Not sure how I like referring to humanity as Fideles Homines, but it works with the latin theme I've been going for. Not all of living humanity shares a religion, after all. The Creed of the Creator is simply the most prevalent opposition to the necromancer empire.
