Barbecue Chicken, Neama
Neama is a small restaurant located in Velacherry, Chennai right outside the IIT Madras gate specializing in Arabic and Afghani cuisines. Right at the entrance, you will find a person scraping chicken off a Shawarma Grill, the smell of which acts as a good appetizer. Of the host of Arabian cuisines they offer, I ordered one of four varieties of Barbecue Chicken - the spicy one. The others were Alfahm, Pepper and Afghani. The chicken was accompanied with one Kuboos and Thoom, both are typical companions of Middle Eastern food and are quite popular with people from Kerala. Kuboos, also called pita bread, is a thick bread made from wheat flour while Thoom is a white garlic sauce. Take a piece of chicken, wrap it in Kuboos, dip it in Thoom and have a taste of what Arab food tastes like.
