#nd 32

It seemed like HerInteractive had a mental checklist of “things fans like” and “common ND archetypes/things/themes” as they were making this game. We even have a character with a deceased mother. I think Her probably took our feedback about MED into serious consideration as they worked on this game, and they also probably heard the vocal few of us who long for “the good ol’ days of the classic ND games,” as this game strikes a balance of both the old and the new. In terms of tone and setting, it was a cross between DDI and CAP. 

Is it just me, or did it sound like Ned wanted to propose to Nancy when she got home? Then again, during the end sequence there was no mention of a proposal, so is this a dangling plot thread...? 

I found the use of blood in this game to be very tasteful and interesting. Haha. 

Don’t bore us, get to the chorus: Ok--ND 33! Midnight in Salem! Thoughts? 

That was probably the most intense and dark teaser we’ve ever seen at the end of a game. 

Deirdre, though. I’m glad Deirdre is coming back in some way or form, even if it’s just as a phone friend. 

I think this game was in the works for years, as people in the clue crew have been speculating about it for awhile now, and I think Her probably kept the idea in their back pocket until the audience was ready. GTH was probably the testing ground for this. Once they saw the feedback GTH received, they proceeded accordingly. 

I guess this game will probably be released this October. 

The Crucible is one of my favorite plays that I’ve ever read, and I’ve always thought of the Salem witch trials as both fascinating and tragic. The amount of hysteria these people were able to drudge up is astonishing. Several innocent people were wrongly killed. Manipulation reigned supreme. Nobody was trustworthy anymore. Neighbor turned against neighbor. Was there actual witchcraft involved? Somewhat. But most of the people who were killed died because of the paranoia and suspicion surrounding them, not because they practiced witchcraft. 

How is this plot going to play out in modern-day Salem, though? Are we going back in time? Is Deirdre sending us back in time? WHAT?

But the jack-o-lanterns indicate that this game takes place on or around Halloween. Unless they’re just window-dressing for the teaser.

As a Christian, I’m a little concerned about the content in this game, but until I see the official trailer (which probably won’t be released until September, I imagine), I’m not going to make any assumptions about it. I am hoping this game will be focused more on the humanity of the story--the gossip, the paranoia, the xenophobia, the finger-pointing--as opposed to the supernatural side of the story. 

(Speaking of finger-pointing, please don’t throw tomatoes at me for point #8.) 

Finally...that “join me on my next adventure” voice was definitely NOT Lani Minella. SEA was Lani’s last game with Her. I’m going to miss her voice in these games. I hope the new voice actress can do the character justice.
