King Olberic
Another important NPC is King Olberic. He is a gold dragon who has been corrupted from years of eating God Tears, enchanted magic stones only found in his Kingdom of Cultantum.
Olberic is a complex man. He brutally took over all of Cultantum, freeing its citizens from the ruthless vampires that used to run it. Some see him as a tyrant, some as a savior. His kingdom was made for the races of creatures who are normally seen as evil and for those banished from their home countries. He is known both for his cruelty and his kindness, for the two often mix.
There are two rumors that surrounded Olberic. One that his father was actually a red dragon who had a forbidden romance with his gold dragon mother. The second is that he has reached his twilight, and soon will die.
Thought I should post these doodles I did of Baron Kain Van York the vampire, his son Sigurd, and Princess Titania the gold dragon in her human form.

Captain Vusiks and their retainers
Vusiks was NOT supposed to become important to the plot in this one shot but he did. So I'm going to talk a little more about him.
Vusiks is currently 30 years old (10 years a tadpole, 20 as an Ulitharid). His host was a god tear thief from Burganworth. His parent is actually not a bounty hunters but a scientist. The bounty hunter often will bring captured criminals to non bounty hunter illithids so they can reproduce as well. Everyone was extremely shocked at their birth because the Cultantum illithids have gone an extremely long time without a leader.
Vusiks is an incredibly spoiled person. The other illithids treat him like a prince so he never has known want once in his life. He isn't used to not getting his way and often will pout when things go against his plans. He also is incredibly sly. Vusiks is ambitious and knows he is intelligent enough to reach his goals. He has a short temper and gets frustrated easily too. He isn't all bad though. He is extremely supportive of his people and often will encourage them personally if he senses one is worried or upset. Its not uncommon for Vusiks to visit illithids when they are sick or celebrating. Sometimes he even just drops in to say hi. He also knowns when to be humble if needed. Olberic watches over him constantly and is extremely hard on him due to Vusiks being an Ulithard. The two often butt heads but Vusiks always backs down. His people still remember the gold dragons wrath against the elder brains of their fallen colonies.
Sluzzell is a wizard and has been by Vusiks side the longest. Sluzzell trained under an alhoon who considered Sluzzell a failure of a wizard. It was Vusiks that personally encouraged him to not give up and often would stay by his side while he studied. Sluzzell is now one of the colonies strongest magic users and he contributes Vusiks to his success. The two have been bond mates since Sluzzell graduated.
Trax is not actually a Cultantum illithid, she is from a colony in Burganworth. She was banished due to having an almost perfect memory of her hosts life. Her host was a drow priestess of Lolth who would paint murals to honor her. Trax has such a good hold on these memories she even has the same muscle memory and is an expert at painting. When it was discovered just how close Trax was to her host her colony tried to kill her out of fear she was the Adversary. The Cultantum illithids found Trax half dead on the boarder to Cultantum. She was incredibly sick with the ashen and needed to have a tentacle amputated due to infection. Vusiks personally stayed by her side and nursed her back to health. Trax has been by Vusiks's side since. She uses female pronouns often because of her drow memories.
