My favourite part of dnd is shaping the world the dm made which is why I cut the ears from the elves I defeat so that ‘knife-ear’ can become an appropriately charged slur like real life swears :)
Rough sketch color/pattern concepts for a gorgonopsid character I’m working on for a homebrew DnD campaign/setting. Obviously 100% scientific realism is not a goal in this situation but I did want to give her realistic proportions. I didn’t have a specific species in mind for what she is in-universe, but looked mostly at Inostrancevia for design purposes.
DnD Campaign (Forgotten Continent: Livermoor) - #1: The Basics
Welcome to "I Need To Talk About My DnD Game Or I'll Die", our first discussion is the basics. What do I mean when I say "the basics", when I say the basics (for me), I mean the world map, continental map, and regional map.
The World Map (Material Plane):
This is the map for the Material Plane in my homebrew setting. The giant black void behind all of the continents is referred to as The Sea of Ink, named after its ink black coloring. The Upper Jaw, The Great Snail, and The Lower Jaw make up a group of continents referred to as The Dragon's Head while the other continents are all on their own. We won't be diving much into The Dragon's Head, Numenorra, Cimmeron, The Lilypad Isles, or Lycoris as of now, but maybe if I run a future campaign in this setting we will. For now our focus lies on The Forgotten Continent, which as the name implies, is sort of 'forgotten' to the rest of the world.
The Continental Map (The Forgotten Continent):
The Forgotten Continent, more specifically the Livermoor region, is where my current campaign takes place. This continent is made up of 5 regions: Darkmere, Livermoor, Maliridge, Cristal, and Laahil. Cristal and Laahil are referred to as the Overgrown Regions due to the kudzu that has covered them.
The Regional Map (Livermoor):
Livermoor, as stated above, serves as the home to my current campaign. Made up of various biomes like the tundra, lava fields, sandfall desert, crystal forest, and misty plains, this region has plenty of diverse flora, fauna, and challenges for my players to overcome.
