Durham to Chester-le-Street via Sunderland
Route Description
On this occation I didn't follow route 14 out of Durham, only picking it up at Haswell Plough to access route 1. Taking the Seaham branch along a rail path of varrying quality with far too few signs. The on street section thorugh Seaham is well signed, but Street Viewing helped. On rejoing the main route, I headed 2 miles back towards Haswell, before double backing, this was for completeness. I missed a short section of the route in Ryhope, even though it was well signed, I thought the signs were wrong! the route into Sunderland is one of the easiest to follow in a city. Having crossed the River Wear I joined route 7 at the Roker Riviera. From there to Chester-le-street the route if off road, well signed and a mixture of tarmac and crushed stone.
Morning too: weird folk on NCN7
