This trip she’s taken to Canada was one on a whim, just a desire for the unfamiliar and the unknown. It was common to vacation in nearby countries for family resorts, and Yufi’s grown tired of her father’s paid excursions for the sake of communication. They speak effectively enough at home, though interactions are relatively brief. But can it be helped? He can’t discuss the nature of his work, what the delegates are delineating on. And there’s nothing of which she does which could appeal to him; for her studies can be relegated to someone else, her emotions neutralized for practicality. It’s his own fault, really, that their relationship maintains its distance, and there’s no amount of two-week trips to wherever that can repair such a dynamic.
When Godo asked where she’d planned to go next, she figured trying something completely unrelated to where they’ve gone before. With no family nearby, they’d be forced to at minimum be in a hotel, interact with new people, see new sights. With luck, she’d find someone that would be willing to show her around. If not, Yufi’s not afraid to go around to ask someone to give her a tour.
Luckily, she can network-- and it’s while hanging out at the lobby’s bar where she gets dragged into a bar crawl. It’s a blast, and by the end of the night she’s a list of places she should absolutely hit up, and even a few phone numbers of new friends.
One of which she actually follows up with... or rather, successfully connects to. She didn’t expect much of it, but she’s thrilled to have the opportunity to actually hang out with someone... anyone, who isn’t her dad.
❝ I should probably meet my dad for lunch, ❞ she sighs, admits a sigh of defeat from the idea. And while she does entertain the thought, for a brief moment, to go along with Dia’s suggestion and merely avoid him... he is paying for this trip and their rooms are connected to one another. She can’t ignore him the entire time. She should still be polite, an honorable child to some extent.
❝ But... I could let you know when I’m out? Do you have any other plans today? ❞
