This week can only be described as if you are getting a photo taken with a camera flash leaving you dazed of what has actually occurred. Is that a good or bad thing?  A lot has happened this week with a lecture from Jess Bonham. This has to be one of my favorite lectures at NUA, it was a relaxed but yet stimulating situation. Jess' personality really brought life to the lecture theater and kept you thinking and giving some really good advice on what you have to do to get where you want and to keep striving for it! ''Reach out to the people you admire!''   Her work was strong and inspiring, she had a lot of useful pages and Artists to check out, such as www.kenzo.com and MM Paris.  The week quickly progressed with trying to prepare for Thursday gathering information to present to the group which was time consuming but a great help as I needed a slight push to get my head on track on what I wanted to get from this project and who I wanted to contact. I spent the rest of my time trying to design a logo for the business working on Photoshop/ Illustrator and within my sketchbook. Working on the layout of the font, width and orientation. It was definitely a learning curve and I felt I was making progress! When I began to get tired of staring at the computer screen wrestling with the design I just stepped back and took the time to free myself and draw up a few sketches of possible t-shirt designs/ mock ups. Progress at this stage is steady (can't complain) so I will keep researching and pushing things forward. On Thursday I had the group tutorial, It was a very intense time, reading through every ones sheets trying to see what they were doing and thinking of artists, books, websites, films and comments to help them progress. Then after that we got to split up into our self selected groups based off the connections we felt we had with each others work. At this stage energy/concentration levels were getting low but we got into our group of 5 and began discussing our projects in more detail with George. I felt a bit lost as everything seemed to just go over my head and I couldn't contribute information as much as I would of liked to and the discussion about my work lasted about 5 minutes ( as we were running out of time) which wasn't any help at all but I'm glad I got a few links to look up prior to the group split. Today we had another lecture from Catrin Morgan which was different from most other lectures but a good way of mixing it up. It looked at critical practice and the subjects 'Research Through Practice' , 'Research For Practice', 'Research about Practice'. It was primarily focused on artists she liked which was nice to see and to hear the story behind the pieces such as John Bergers - Ways Of Seeing - 1972 and Matthew Barney - Drawing Restraint.A nice way to finish the week. I found this week to be productive but just a hectic one which flew by without really taking the time to appreciate it all. But I am happy at where I am going with my project and my ideas keep developing every day with possible variations to keep the spark alive. 

A look at what tattoos can taken for in a different scenario. I’m visually interested in the tattoos and the style. The illustrations are simple but get their point across very clearly. I want to bring elements of tattoo culture into my work and the meanings into a more public light or the polar opposite and hide the reality from the public of what they are wearing.
