Cute notes and drawings about singing bats
NPR has a blog called Krulwich Wonders, but it ended in 2014. I’m not sure how to characterize the theme, other than interesting science articles and musings, which is not very creative. Sorry. It’s too bad they canceled the blog because I enjoyed the random stories and playful drawings.
Anyway, this one -- “Is That a Lark I Hear? A Nightingale? Surprise! It’s a Bat!” -- is from October 2014 and there are nice recordings of bats that sound like birds. Semi-related: in Hawaii I heard frogs that sound like birds. I guess that means (some) frogs sound like bats. Wonder what else? I never realized that are a number of very different animals that sound similar. By the way, the similarities I can tell are high-pitched chirps and melodies.
