oooh okay!

i cant say that avia is going to be in any place to give pyxis a mentor-esque guidance, what with everything going on she’s going to be quite focused on rook, on getting to uldren, on ignoring her incredibly mixed feelings surrounding everything thats going on. but in the quieter moments she can definitely do her best for him, will do her best for him, just like she has with carina and cornelia. 

well, avia’s never been 100% sure of anything for as long as she’s been a guardian. so she’s probably the best to come to about that aha. 

she’d probably tell him to trust his emotions, if he’s mad or upset he’s allowed to feel like that, but to ultimately give his dad the benefit of the doubt. avia’s seen people she thought cared for her go off on one (the queen, uldren) and people who do care about her lose themselves in different ways (grier and now carver) so she knows that it takes a very special switch to make someone like carver go beserk like that.

but, she is also mad about it. she knows carver cant help it, but he got someone hurt, he got his son hurt. whatever this beserk is, he needs to keep it under control, especially considering the events of d2, especially since none of them are truly immortal, and cayde’s death proves that. so she’d make sure pyxis knows that its okay to feel like that, especially since he was caught in the crossfire. but ultimately his dad didnt mean it. he cant help it, but avia would encourage him to make sure his dad knows he needs to make sure it never happens again. 

It’s kind of a convoluted process, but it’s not terribly hard. 

Usually I look for what I want on desktop, googling stuff like “procreate water brush”. When I find what I’m looking for, I download it, unzip it, and then move the .brush file to my Dropbox.

2 - What’s your least favourite thing you wrote this year?

this is a weird one, cause there’s nothing i’ve written this year that i dont like at all. im really proud of and like all of it!! i guess if i had to like, put them on a scale of favourite to least favourite, good intentions would be down there but only because it was so far removed from what ive written before? like, a conflict between two characters where they’re both so in the wrong took me a long time to wrap my head around cause i just want everyone to get along cause it was the first time i pushed myself out of that comfort zone. i think my brain has certain negative connotation of like, me staring at that fucking argument for hours trying to get it right too so maybe thats a big factor aha. 

7 - What’s your favourite piece of description or narration?

not dialogue jade, description or narration.

well the first thing that springs to mind is minerva using her nova bomb in the commision that i did for queen:

‘It takes over her whole being, crashes around her insides, hungry and demanding but quiet. Her Light pulls and twists and warps with the Void, a catalyst to create the bomb that extends from her core – colder than any oceanic moon, any coveted weapon – and pushes its way through her arm. The indigo hued, blinding manifested energy shoots from her hand and attaches itself to the Hydra. Its conduit body screams and writhes in defiance, its three shields not able to protect it from the black hole that dints and crushes and consumes the metal of its being. They begin to flicker, and as they do Minerva aims for the Hydra’s piercing eye and takes one, two, three shots. The thing crumples, falls, and explodes. She lands, bends her knee and sets her palm flat across the ground. A wave of air ripples towards her, and makes the bottom of her robes flutter behind her rapidly.’

8: Did any real people or events inspire any part of it?

hmm… i want to say yes but honestly? i was just sort of trying to write an older person for carver, i guess since my habit is to watch destiny streams whilst writing i based him a little bit of kinggothalion?? but only when he gets particularly silly and out there, its not enough to be noteable tbh. 

9: Were there any alternate versions of this fic?

this one was fairly linear. my basic idea was to have avia and carver fight over their awoken-ness and the plot just sort of…. happened as i was writing it. some scenes were added in after the fact – the chunk where avia and carver are debriefing with zavala was a lot, like, a LOT shorter than what it ended up being. but for the most part it had the same beginning, middle, and end all the way through. 

12: What do you like least about this fic?

i feel like the conversation and exposition as carver and avia are flying towards mars and when they first get there is a bit messy. it could have been a bit more coherent, but seeing as i decided not to base it around a mission or a strike i had to explain a lot right off the bat and i have to be honest, it’s the part of the fic i like the least. its just a lot, you know? which is why im trying to show and not tell in my writing from now on.

also that it ends on a damn cliffhanger aha. tbh im working on the second chapter now and i hate, hate how single-minded avia is being. thats just her character and its difficult to write, but it all ends up okay in the end. 

14: Is there anything you wanted readers to learn from reading this fic?

ironically enough, that avia isnt perfect. that she has a very, very one-sided view of the reef and refuses to listen to anyone elses opinion when it interferes with that. she has a tendency to get up on her high horse more than she should and i wanted to really show that off in this fic.
