Genre of movie: teacher who has an involvement in the arts changing children's lives in an unconventional joyful way, the teacher then has to deal with the consequences of that, there's an important play/show, and it changed me personally as a human.

It amuses me endlessly to think of David Tennant fans who watched Nativity 2 just for him with no knowledge whatsoever of the first film, only to be jumpscared by Mr Poppy's Martin Freeman shrine about a third of the way through.
im never going to be able to write this properly so if anyone's looking for Christmas steddie prompts I humbly present this Nativity! Au
Steve Harrington doesn't... hate Christmas. Hate is a very strong word. It just doesn't really do much for him. Too many childhood Christmases spent in his empty home alone have left the holiday with a sour taste in his mouth.
The fact that Hawkins Elementary goes all out with the red, green and glitter, just like every other elementary school in the country, is something that he just has to grin and bear.
He loves teaching 2nd grade though. His class is... chaos, even though he loves every one of those little shitheads.
If he's a little more... out of sorts this year (which he isn't, Robin), it's because the seasonal depression is hitting him especially hard this year. It's got nothing to do with the fact that Nancy's off doing journalism in Boston and Jonathan's in NYC for photography and Argyle's moved back to California, dwindling Steve's already sparse friend group down to just him and Robin. That's just a coincidence.
So Steve isn't the most festive man ever. Sue him. So why on earth was he chosen to direct this year's nativity?
And he does not need a teaching assistant right now. It doesn't matter that it's the custodian's nephew, Steve likes Wayne just fine, but he can manage this shitshow without some guy named Eddie Munson following him around.
Right????
plus some little scenes I thought of and need to put out there under the cut
Steve, babysitting Dustin the night before his first day of 2nd grade: okay I know you know me as Steve outside of school--
Dustin: because I'm your best friend. your only friend even. you're so sad and lonely which is why I think you need to date Ms Buckley.
Steve: I'm not-- okay whatever. point is when I'm your teacher and you're in my classroom you need to call me Mr Harrington, alright?
Dustin: sure.
*first day of school*
Steve: hello class!
Dustin: hi Steve!
Robin: yknow I think this Eddie guys not that bad. he gets along with the kids pretty well. you always said u liked when ur dates are good with children
Steve: Rob you cannot be trying to set me up with the raccoon man
*one school play and a dramatic victory smooch later*
Steve: ... fuck.
Max, slamming open the door to the classroom at lunch time, two hair ties clutched in her fist like a weapon: you need to braid my hair.
Steve, correcting workbooks and knowing full well that Max is entirely capable of braiding her own hair: ... okay
*he braids her hair into two neat pigtails and listens about how her stepbrother drives too fast and how she misses california*
*right before the bell rings she hugs him and then sprints out of the room and then refuses to look him in the eyes for the rest of the day*
Wayne, the moment he sees Eddie lay eyes on Steve: don't.
