Creating movement in the slightest breeze and bringing soft lines to a dry border is Stipa tenuissima (Mexican feather grass, Texas needle grass, Nassella). The repeat planting or editing of self-sown plants adds to the effect. The old fine leaves are best cut back in early spring.

Stipa tenuissima (Syn. Nassella tenuissima) (Mexican Feather Grass). Today’s highly textural and tactile #oneadayplant . If there ever was a grass with the potential to becoming hated from overexposure, this is it! Very popular with Garden Designers in particular and understandably so. Smaller in stature than many other grasses (60cm (2’) tall); texturally a delight, soft and free-moving. Fresh green when young ageing to an oaty colour when flowering (as pictured). . It does self-seed quite freely, which some love and others hate. I really rate it very highly as a blending plant, joining foliage from other plants together and as a foil for flower, especially from bulbs. It is a shame that there aren’t a great many of alternative grasses capable of doing the same job as I would hate to think that this plant became a victim of its own success. . Mexican Feather is an ornamental Grass that cascades like a fountain and gracefully sways in the wind. The delicate, fine textured grass is commonly planted with succulents since it is drought tolerant and requires full sun. Another oc! Her name is Nassella, Nass for short. She has three eyes in total, one on her head, one on her chest and the last one on her back opposite of the chest one. Her eyes can glow different colors to hypnotize people. Also her mouth is on her tail
