the story of the Tiny Escalator(s)
”Once upon a time there was this tiny escalator all crammed into some back corner of this crazy big convention center building thing & it was all alone because there was no room for anything else in that corner & everyone who passed through was like “whoa dang this is one tiny escalator what’s the deal?” Which admittedly made the tiny escalator a little proud because people were marveling at it, but it also made it feel a little alienated maybe.
But then, one day, during some kind of crazy folk convention or something where all these dudes were running around with weird plucked-string instruments & suspenders & beards & stuff, this fledgling band happened to get lost as all get out for the entire duration of the convention & during their long progression of lost-ness, at some point either before or after they ate lunch at Panera, they happened to traverse this tiny escalator, and though they too said “whoa dang this is one tiny escalator what’s the deal?”, something else happened, too. Something remarkable.
You see, as they rode that tiny escalator, they were transforming, though they did not know it at the time (being way too distracted by just how dang tiny this escalator was like I am not kidding you here). Yes, they were each transforming into their own sort of escalator, even as they rode & commented somewhat relentlessly on just how freaking narrow it was like you can barely fit a dude & her guitar case on this thing.
By the time the fledgling band reached the foyer at the top of the tiny escalator, they had become, together with their former means of transport, Tiny Escalators.
& For a moment, the tiny escalator was no longer alone in the universe. It was as if it had formed its own “Tiny Escalator Convention”! The band, however, proceeded to disappear, because they had to continue failing to find their way around, but the tiny escalator never forgot that, somewhere out there in this big crazy world, were other Tiny Escalators.” -sanguinehollow
First Tiny Escalator’s live show, and it was magical. :) Lyrics: Ghost in the backroom Ghost on the couch Ghost in the basement, Shaking the house Never wrote to Margret Never wrote to Dawn Never saw the angels Put their white shoes On and up and up and over Sleeping easy 'neath the clover Oh, oh oh oh Coulda been a seamstress Coulda been a king Traded in her fourtune To hear the sparrow sing Singin from the hedgebush Singin from the vine Song the sounds of old love Song that sounds of time
I wrote a song today & this is it. I also think this is some of the best night-time-mp3-player-recording (good bugs:weather:noise:music ratio imo) I have ever done & also probably some of the best songwriting so if you've got a moment maybe stop by the actual soundcloud page & read the lyrics too.
