Fatherly Loki, Pt.2
I saw today that my last post got a ‘like’. Yay, my first one :D thank you!!!Â
But it made me think about the questions i asked. I’m gonna try and hazard a few answers to them, see what you think.Â
So the questions were:Â
My question is, what were these sons like. What were they like as brothers? What was their relationship with their mother and father like? Did one favour one over the other?Â
From google i found out about Vali. Unfortunately this version isn’t a product of Loki/Sigyn, but of Loki and some unknown human woman. This Loki seems to be very much like his father. If we took some of this versions personality traits, i would say he would be the elder of the two brothers. I would also go as far to say, he would probably be considered as being the ‘golden child’, and be given preferable treatment - which would mirror the sibling rival of Loki and Thor, when they were children. Although this symmetry, in my opinion would be overlooked in their parents ignorance of it. Â
My view of Vali, in terms of his personality, is that he would be a bold character, with a lot of passion inside him, and a lot of power. I think he would also inherit his father lust for power and prestige.Â
Narli on the other hand, i believe to be more like his mother. Quiet, gentle and understated. Taking a different interest in things, such as exploration and discovery. I picture Narli, as being an avid reader like his father. And where Loki always resented coming second to his brother, i don’t think Narli would follow in the same lines with his.Â
As brothers, i think they get along as well as most siblings do in general. With perhaps Vali looking down on his younger brother a little, and being quite bossy towards him. And Narli, reluctantly being dragged around on various escapades his brother makes him be a part of - but ultimately being the more grounded, sensible voice of the duo.
As for their relationships with their parents, as i said earlier, Vali is definitely the golden child, and apple of his parents eye. Spoiled rotten by both, he dotes on their affection and attention of him. Vali being Loki’s favorite.Â
Narli, being more sensitive, is drawn more towards his mother, who is very affectionate and attentive of him. Loki on the other hand, tends to dismiss him offhand, as not really being worth of his attention. So Narli often feels unloved and unwanted by his father, resulting in an underlying anguish and resentment of him, that he never realizes. Â
We known ultimately that neither one of these children, survived their children. But it’s still interesting to explore and examine these ‘minor’ characters, in hopes that one day they might get picked up again and fleshed out to be something more important.Â
