He had agreed to stay low for the next two years. It was only a matter of time before his record would be clean, and every scar that laid in his back would disappear and throw away stories of torture, pain, and grief.

In two years time, a new life would be born. Typically, many would be relieved to live his situation, but nothing in him speaks of happiness. Nothing in him makes him fake a smile. 

 It was just two years,...but he had never believed in any fashion would time wear him down. 

Two years was simple and went by fast; at least his experience as a mafioso told him that, but two years while doing nothing….? Doing nothing, but wallowing in a fresh memory...a nightmare had made everything agonizing. Everyday his restlessness overtook him, and every second stagnation lingered in his fingers and spread through his veins; stagnation….was a disease worse than revenge. It made him think of all the “what ifs” and “why mes.”

It burned a pity in him; one that he had never felt before.

Pathetic and Pitiful were not the words he would describe himself as. Just a month ago, he was feared by a plethora of the strongest people in Japan’s crime syndicate - just a few months ago; it was just a few months ago.

 But perhaps pathetic and pitiful were the closest and most genuine thing that anyone could see in him. It was all he had ever done for the last month as he rambled through new bars and found himself countlessly waking up in a puddle of vomit.

Rubbing a hand over his face, Dazai let out a groan as the weak moon light filtered through his vision. He had fallen asleep on a dirty bench in Yokohama park after passing out from alcohol. He needed to report to Ango soon. Laying low was hard since he had to stay with a traitor like him, but it was a necessity.

He rubbed his eyes several times and lifted himself up to stare at the small collection of bottles at his feet.

Stephen had finally started to get his apartment into place. One of the first things he needed to do. After 40+ years of living in the sanctum going back to a normal apartment was just too jarring. He would have loved to keep his uncomfortable feeling to a minimum but he just couldn’t. Even if death didn’t bother him the change over he wanted to make easier.
