I am in the Biotech lab and I plan on majoring in bioengineering in college, so from someone with similar interests, I would say it mostly depends. (So helpful right!) It is taught by Dr. Locklear in a similar style to her neurobio classes, which is based on current articles. I didn’t take the class myself, but I had Dr. Locklear for DNA II and I know people who have taken it. I would say it is not essential for someone interested in bio or chem, but it can be a useful complement to the lab-based skills you get in classes like DNA Science or Orgo, because you learn a lot of cutting-edge theory. If you have space in your schedule and are interested in the subject, then take it! Otherwise, don’t sweat it because you aren’t missing out on a ton.
