This floral dress, with its distinctive scalloped edging on the sleeves, was designed by Travis Banton and first appeared in the 1930 Paramount film ๐ฏ๐๐๐๐, worn by Nancy Carroll in the role of Olivia Dangerfield. ย Later that same year, the dress surfaced again in ๐ป๐๐ ๐ฌ๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐พ๐๐๐๐ , where Una Merkel wore what appears to be the same design as Sybil LaGrange. While the film is now considered lost, an illustration of Merkel on the cover of a reprint of the original novel suggests she was indeed wearing the same costume. ย Whether itโs the exact same dress is unknown.
