Started dating a guy, he is not really how I thought he was, he seems like a good person but I just don't think we're compatible. So obviously only thing to do is politely call it off.

Problem is he kinda trauma dumped his whole life on me and oh my gosh if he is telling the truth my heart literally breaks for him. Literally no one in this man's life is nice to him. Physically and emotionally abused by the people closest to him his whole life since childhood to the present day.

I suggested therapy, told him what's happening isn't right but he thinks it's just his normal and somehow is less bad because he's not a kid anymore.

I don't feel any attraction to him not because of what he said i just physically am not attracted and I wanna call it off but I feel so bad

Bless your heart for showing compassion and empathy for this new friend! It sounds like he needs it. It's admirable thing that your first instinct is to protect him from any more pain; not everyone would so considerate.

However, in dating, it really is best to be honest as much as possible in regards to your feelings and intentions. If you're sure you're not interested in taking things further, or if you don't really care to continue seeing him, it's better to let him know now. I think he would want you do.

It's possible he is just looking for more friends, and may be interested in staying in touch as friends, but I don't know how close the two of you have gotten, or whether YOU are interested in that. It is your choice.

Please don't feel obligated to be the emotional support for this person. It sounds like you've done the best you could to lend him an ear and even offer him advice, even though he's done an awkward thing by trauma dumping on you (not a great move when you're dating, to be honest). You cannot be expected to do anything further for him, least of all to continue dating him when you're not interested.

I know this is difficult and again one of the suckier parts of the dating process, but he is a grown-up, and should be able to handle it. :)
