â„ïž Rarepair Month 2022 â„ïž Namivan â„ïž NaminĂ© x Vanitas â„ïž
NaminĂ© nervously meets Vanitas in secret; her friends have yet to discover their special relationship. As shadows of two heroes and a princess, their mutual loneliness drew them together. Perhaps now they can find happiness, and realize theyâre more than just copies.
@skytsunrose
all done!!! this is my first table iâve ever finished omg, thanks for the likes/reblogs/comments, yâall! they really helped me keep going!
45. Alone.
âHave you ever felt alone, Vanitas?â Vanitas stops focusing on how the sand feels under his feet as they walk along the shore. âHuh? Alone? Iâve never cared about being alone.â NaminĂ© swings her sandals at her side. âHm...I thought otherwise,â she confesses. âWhy?â âSometimes you seem lonely. Like when you have to leave Ven.â Vanitas scoffs. He doesnât say anything. NaminĂ© slows down. âI wonder...why donât you live with him? You miss him.â Sheâs sad from the idea, but itâs the truth. Vanitas knocks her hand with his. âI see him enough. Iâm not alone with you.â
46. Remember.
âSo whatâs it like? With you and Kairi?â Vanitas asks. Heâs more comfortable with NaminĂ© now to ask. NaminĂ© sighs happily. âI remember how we connected as soon as we met. I felt safe with her...like I could follow her lead and be okay.â Vanitas takes another bite out of his sea salt ice-cream. âRemember anything else?â NaminĂ© looks down at her ice-cream. âPlenty, but we havenât been able to spend that much time together. And now that sheâs asleep...â She wipes at her eye and Vanitas feels a small pang of guilt. âSheâll come back, yâknow,â he says.
47. Forget.
âSo you can make anyone forget anything?â Vanitas asks, tossing the book he was barely reading off to the side. NaminĂ© is used to Vanitasâ mistreatment of books at this point; at least it was onto his bed and not the floor. She sips her tea. âYes, I can.â Vanitas whistles. âThatâs some power. But youâre too good to do that to anyone, arenât you?â NaminĂ© pauses. Sheâs much better now about believing sheâs a good person and sheâs done everything she can to help out her friends. Sheâs good. âYouâre right, I am.â
48. Stop. (Writerâs Choice)
Against Rikuâs gentle opposition, NaminĂ© takes to sitting outside Vanitasâ door and sometimes talking to him. He doesnât answer most of the time and they spend a lot of time in silence. NaminĂ© doesnât want to leave him alone; everyone needs a friend. âHey.â NaminĂ© jumps. âOh, hello, Vanitas.â She hears Vanitasâ âtchâ and finds the sliver of personality charming for existing. âStop doing this,â he growls, âthereâs no point in whatever youâre doing.â NaminĂ© frowns. Sheâs been afraid of pushing him away instead of coaxing him into conversation. âI disagree. Youâre talking to me now, thatâs all I want.â
49. Wait. (Writerâs Choice)
NaminĂ© kisses Kairiâs temple. âSee you soon,â she whispers. She holds out her hand for Vanitas to take and as he does she starts to lead them out of the lab. She thanks the scientists--and Demyx, she guesses--for taking care of Kairi and bustles out. âItâs a little harder each time,â NaminĂ© says, her voice cracking, âwaiting is getting harder.â Vanitas stops NaminĂ© from leading them past the gummi ship. âHey, you canât just run away like that.â NaminĂ© holds onto his hand tighter. Her grip isnât strong but it isnât weak either. âI know...she wouldnât want me to.â
50. Go. (Writerâs Choice)
âWhat are you all dressed up for?â Riku teases Vanitas, whoâs dressed up a little nicer than usual. Vanitas shrugs. âSome festival Roxas invited us to,â he says, âNaminĂ© said we should dress up a bit.â âI didnât know you two were also going,â Riku comments, âwe can all take the gummi ship then.â âNah, weâll go our own way.â Just as Riku offers again, NaminĂ© emerges from her room. Her hair is braided and her outfit leans more into âprettyâ than her usual âcuteâ. âReady to go?â she asks. Vanitas composes himself enough to get up. âYeah, all ready.â
almost to the end...itâs been so fun writing these and actually getting through a table omg
39. Poor.
NaminĂ© finds it incredibly sweet of Vanitas to go out into town on his own and come back with a gift for her. Itâs almost the same present as one Riku gave her before but a different set. Sheâll always look at these colored pencils and feel warm that it was Vanitas who gave them to her. She colors with them once and discovers that theyâre poor quality but NaminĂ© doesnât mind. She is, however, concerned about one particular detail. âVanitas...where did you get the money for these?â Vanitasâ furrowed, confused brow tells her all she needs to know.
40. Rich.
Sometimes when they decide to go out together--on dates as NaminĂ© bashfully calls it--they often arrive in Twilight Town and head straight for the bistro. NaminĂ© usually gets sweet things for dessert but today she decides to try a very rich chocolate cake in hopes that Vanitas will like a dessert for once. NaminĂ© can only handle a few bites until she puts down her fork. Vanitas grins. âOh, so it got the best of you after all.â NaminĂ© nods. âItâs very good but...well, Iâm glad you like it.â Vanitas smirks and pulls the cake towards him.
41. Truth.
âYâknow Iâm surprised none of your friends made a big fuss about us.â Vanitas says to NaminĂ©, chin in his hands. Riku doesnât want to comment. He keeps watching the kettle and setting up three mugs. But Vanitas has a way of dragging people into things. âEspecially you over there,â he says. âTo tell the truth, you two,â Riku admits, âI wasnât so sure about this.â Vanitas shrugs and NaminĂ© looks down at her folded hands. Riku sighs and sets down their teas in front of them. This isnât his favorite conversation but he didnât want to lie.
42. Lies.
âIâve...told a lot of lies,â NaminĂ© confesses softly. âIâve created so many lies...and I was never the one to pay the price.â Vanitas watches her, mouth pursed to the side. Then he shrugs and stretches his arms up. âSo what?â NaminĂ©âs head snaps towards him. âWhat?â âSo what? None of your friends care about all that, right?â NaminĂ© pauses. âNo...they donât, I donât think. Theyâre very forgiving.â Vanitas tugs NaminĂ© against his side by her waist. âAnd, yâknow, I like this dark little secret of yours,â he says, lips to her ear, âtell me more.â
43. Clean.
Vanitas doesnât need his helmet anymore, or at least not in the foreseeable future. It sits on a shelf in his room across from his bed where he can stare at it every night until he falls asleep. Heâs taken to wiping down the front plate with his t-shirts whenever it gathers a little dust or he leaves finger marks over it. NaminĂ© brings him some cleaning spray and a towel after she catches him doing it. âHere, this can clean that up for you.â Vanitas doesnât it want to be a serious thing, but he accepts the items anyway.
44. Dirty.
âOh no!â NaminĂ©âs dress is covered in mud after a cyclist zooms by over a puddle that splashed all over her. Vanitas almost takes off after them but NaminĂ© grabs his arm with both of her hands. âItâs okay...â âNot really. Can you portal back to your room and change?â She hesitates before dragging Vanitas into an alleyway to create a portal and step through. Vanitas waits in front of it until she reemerges in a new white and baby blue dress. NaminĂ© closes the portal and sighs. âI donât like using these...â âYeah but your dress isnât dirty now.â
next 4 namivan prompts! tbh this is the farthest iâve gotten with one of these tables? dang
31. Friends.
âIâm sick of him trying to act like we can just be âfriendsâ and thatâs it!â Vanitas growls, stomping out of the Land of Departure castle and across the courtyard. âWeâre something more, why canât he see that?â â...Do you want to be a family?â NaminĂ© suggests. Vanitas scoffs. âHeâs already my brother.â NaminĂ© sighs. âYes but...hm. I donât know how to explain it.â â...I want...damn it, what you and Kairi have.â Vanitas curses again and looks away from NaminĂ©. NaminĂ©âs chest feels warm; she hasnât spoken to Kairi in so long but she understands Vanitasâ feelings now.
32. Enemies
NaminĂ© knew getting her friends to accept her relationship with Vanitas would be a little tricky even if they were a forgiving bunch. Riku, no stranger to the struggle Vanitas would face, was the quickest to give his approval. The others werenât as easy; Lea has a hard time letting go of Vanitas as one of the enemies until Isa steps in to take him aside to talk. âProbably getting angsty over there,â Roxas teases them. He and Xion seem apprehensive but willing to give Vanitas a chance. âNice to meet you on this side,â Xion says with a smile.
33. Black
Vanitas whistles. âSo you can summon portals, too? You?â NaminĂ©âs hand curls into a loose fist at her chest. âI...yes, I am--was a Nobody after all.â Vanitas smirks and puts his hand around NaminĂ©âs little shoulder. Heâs always excited by the times NaminĂ© isnât the beacon of light people treat her as. âWhat about those black coats? Do you need one of those?â â...I donât think so.â NaminĂ© is obviously about as troubled by her powers as Vanitas is delighted by them. He squeezes her shoulder. He leans into her ear. âThen letâs go somewhere, just you and me.â
34. White.
âItâs all white,â Vanitas comments, barely holding back a sneer at the clothes draped over NaminĂ©âs arm. Radiant Garden is her favorite place to shop for clothes; Vanitas prefers Twilight Town. NaminĂ© looks at her choices. âHm...they are.â âWhy?â âWhy do you wear all black?â Vanitas scrunches his face and NaminĂ© giggles. Itâs true, though, Vanitasâ only other color of choice is red but thatâs due to Twilight Townâs current style aesthetic; he likes it and he supposes itâs about the same as NaminĂ© accents of baby blue. NaminĂ© hums. âIâll try on one black thing you pick out.â

namivan prompts 26-30!
26. Life.
Vanitas never puts thought into what he wants out of his chance at life. He does what comes to him and sits back until he reacts for the rest of it. Since his original, pre-replica plan to fuse with Ventus didnât work out he has to do something else. He was tired of island life until he got closer to NaminĂ©. She was patient with him and found ways to make existing more interesting, even worthwhile. His world used to only be him and Ventus. âHey, howâs life today?â Riku asks when he comes into the kitchen. Vanitas shrugs. âWhereâs NaminĂ©?â
27. Death.
NaminĂ© hasnât thought about death in a real way before this moment, crouching next to a seagull who must have starved from a broken wing. The people she knew in the Organization didnât really die...did they? They were fine now, at least, but it didnât cross her mind much back then. Did she inherently know as a Nobody that they could return to life as easily as they were brought to death? She looks up at Vanitas, brought back from the dead and currently bored, and cocks her head. âI feel sorry for it...what a cruel fate.â
28. Win.
âOh, Riku! Would you like to play with us?â she asks, perking up. Riku looks between chipper NaminĂ©, pouting Vanitas, and their playing card game. âUm...maybe I shouldnât. You two look like youâre having fun.â âCome on, man, she keeps winning,â Vanitas growls. âMaybe you can beat her.â NaminĂ© smiles as if Vanitas speaking casually to Riku and asking for help--in a way--wasnât a new development. Riku chuckles and sits. âWell, if thatâs the case then count me in.â âHear that, Nami? Your winning streak is over.â And now nicknames. What has Riku been missing?
29. Draw.
Vanitas was thrilled in his own way when he and NaminĂ© discovered the Struggle tournament happening on their visit to Twilight Town. With Roxasâ endorsement he was allowed to enter despite never playing before. They end up against each other in the final match and NaminĂ© has to cheer for them both--Lea teases her about it. The match ends in a draw when the timer runs out and their scores are the same. Vanitas looks more upset about it than Roxas does, but Roxas has always been a good sport. âCouldâve had him if there was more time,â he grumbles.
30. Lose.
At first, the sight for Riku isnât unusual: Sora and Kairiâs faces talking to each other, sometimes mumbling to themselves, being subtly loving to each other. Then Vanitas misses a smile, NaminĂ© a louder laugh, and Riku snaps back to reality. Sometimes being near the two is almost reminds him too much of what heâs lost and maybe what heâll continue to lose. It creeps up on him and he has to push the negative out and replace with the positive; heâll see his partners again someday. For now, though, he can be supportive of and happy for his housemates.
officially halfway through the 50 prompts!
22. Brief.
Vanitas doesnât kiss her in front of other people. NaminĂ© doesnât really mind, sheâs probably just as private as he is so itâs not something that she thinks much of. So it catches her off guard when, after breakfast with Riku, he kisses her cheek briefly, mumbles something she canât understand, and rushes out of the house. Riku raises his eyebrows and finishes his sip of coffee. âThat happened,â he comments. NaminĂ© blushes. âOh, yes...it did.â She tries to drink her tea normally but ends up letting the cup sit on her lips for a long moment before drinking.
23. Forever.
âHow long do you think weâre stuck here?â NaminĂ© frowns in Vanitasâ direction. âHm? What do you mean?â Vanitas is glaring out at the horizon. âWe canât stay here forever, right? How boring would that be?â âWell...where would you go?â âI dunno, and youâre coming with me wherever that is.â NaminĂ©, flustered, looks down at her fidgeting hands. âI am?â âUh, yeah?â Vanitas sounds a tinge bashful as he tries to act confidently like this was something they discussed. âWe have to move on at some point.â âThen...we can talk about it when the time comes.â
24. Emotional.
Vanitas isnât emotional in the same way NaminĂ© is; NaminĂ© is more gentle and her more intense emotions lead to her crying even when sheâs happy. Vanitas has only seen her do this a few times, and has teased her at least once about it. He might be just as emotional as her, though; he reacts to everything in myriad ways and most of the time is more expressive than NaminĂ©. He has ten more ways to smirk than she does to smile. Vanitas definitely has strong emotions when something he does causes NaminĂ© tear up and giggle at once.
25. Blank.
NaminĂ© sits at her desk, hands folded in her lap, and stares down at the blank page in her open sketchbook. Vanitas has been watching her do this for a while. He finally canât take it anymore. âHey, why arenât you doing anything?â NaminĂ© slumps back in her chair. âI canât think of anything...and I donât want to draw the ocean again.â âWell, thatâs a bummer, isnât it?â âBut...maybe this is how I feel today.â Vanitas squints at her. âHuh?â NaminĂ© closes her sketchbook, leaving the page blank and empty. âA walk might cheer me up...shall we?â
5 more namivan fills done!
17. Past.
NaminĂ©âs past doesnât come up that often. She knows more about Vanitas than most people but she keeps her history locked tight. âItâs not like you did anything bad,â Vanitas says, waving his hand dismissively, âso whatâs the deal?â NaminĂ© withdraws and her silence is loud enough to cause Vanitas to look up at her on her paopu tree perch. He smirks. âWell then. What could you have done?â NaminĂ© opens then immediately closes her mouth; she canât bring herself to tell him about her lonely days as a witch and the way she used her powers to hurt others.
18. Present.
âItâs hard to go back to normal life,â Riku muses, âthatâs why I chose to not live with my parents.â Vanitas doesnât really know what a parent is and he doesnât really care about this conversation. âOkay, and?â âHeâs answering your question,â NaminĂ© explains softly. Riku turns his cup around on the table. âI canât mix how things are presently with who I was years ago. So we live on our own.â Vanitas rocks back in his chair, arms crossed. âRight. Everyone else doesnât know anything.â NaminĂ© sighs. âNo one can understand us...can they?â â...Not ever again,â Riku says.
19. Future.
It took a long time for NaminĂ© to convince Vanitas to accompany her to talk to Kairi. He always goes with her and Riku to Radiant Garden when they visit Kairiâs sleeping form but he never went into the lab with them. NaminĂ© is holding Vanitasâ hand with both of hers, gently cradling him as she speaks softly to Kairi. âI hope you wonât be alarmed when you wake up someday,â she says, âheâs good.â Vanitas tries not to scowl the whole time; heâs so uncomfortable he wants to speed time up so they can stop waiting for the future.
20. Awake.
NaminĂ© is so lost in her drawing she doesnât notice the sun go down. Sheâs switching between colored pencils, holding one or two between every couple of fingers. Her artwork isnât big but sheâs been putting details into every inch she can. â--mi. Nami!â NaminĂ© jumps, dropping some of her pencils onto her desk. She looks toward the door and sees Vanitas leaning against it. âWhat are you doing still awake?â he asks, sounding a tad more annoyed than concerned. âYou need to sleep.â NaminĂ© looks down at her piece and hums. âOh, I just got caught up in this.â
21. Sleep.
Vanitas doesnât need more sleep than a few naps throughout the day. He didnât need to at all before, why should he now? Heâs never slept through an entire night and doesnât believe he can. He always hangs out in NaminĂ©âs room until she goes to sleep then leaves to go loiter around the house until she or Riku wakes up, but this time NaminĂ© asks him to stay. âWhy?â he asks, looping his arm around her waist as she snuggles closer into his chest. NaminĂ© hums and falls asleep without answering. To his surprise, Vanitas wakes up hours later.
