Get Involved with the NALP
Green Ambassador
Mario Malagisi, a Landscape Design and Management major (pictured left), was named Student Ambassador at LANDSCAPES 2017/Green Industry and Equipment Expo held in Louisville, KY.
According to the National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP) website, “LANDSCAPES 2017 is North America’s premier networking and educational conference for entrepreneurs and professionals working in the landscaping and green industries.”
Malagisi assisted with this event, which hosted over 850 vendors, 20 plus acres of equipment demonstrations, 40 educational sessions, and 56 speakers. He networked with industry leaders and potential employers over the course of the conference.
Following graduation, Malagisi hopes to own his own landscape design and maintenance company in Connecticut. “It was an opportunity to learn from successful business leaders and perhaps call upon them in the future as my business develops,” says Malagisi. “It was an experience I would love to do again, and would highly recommend any landscape major.”
Associate Professor Birgitta Brophy (pictured right), who accompanied Malagisi at the conference, says “We are proud that Delhi is the only college among SUNY to have a student ambassador selected. This is an invaluable experience. Students have the opportunity to see that continued learning through industry affiliations and conferences is not only important, but also essential to their future success.”
