You know what's interesting to me about the MGB vampire lore? They say over and over again that vampires don't feel human emotions. But they so clearly do. Maybe it's not the same, and maybe they can't always taste and smell but they still feel something
We know they feel pain just as humans do. Thara herself admitted it.
We know they feel love: Wan talked about missing her husband, and Mark adopted and cared for a cat
We know they feel greed: Thara craves power, and she will do anything to get more of it.
We know they feel loss: Nakan mourned the human he had lost for decades.
We know they feel anger: he never stopped trying to get revenge for the victims that Thara killed.
We know they feel guilt: Wan cried when she realized she had been tricked. She was devastated when she realized she had helped hurt people, and she risked her life to try to make it right.
Even on a wider scale; the fact that they work to coexist with humans and try to protect them shows that they feel something. Why would they bother at all unless they cared?
The Golden Blood may help give them their senses back, it may make emotions stronger or easier to understand but it doesn't truly give them emotions because they already had them, even though Thara tries to convince them that they don't.
