Natsu x Gajeel exert

“It’s simple really, just give me all your valuables and livestock and I leave. No damage done to your little village.” The cloaked figure sounded cool and calm as Natsu growled, feeling a fire ignite in his chest. This definitely was the guy and his magic power was no joke.

“Hey mister, I’m Here to kick your ass so come down from there and fight me!” Natsu punched his fists together with a twirl of flame igniting around them. The cloaked figure looked down at Natsu but he still couldn’t see their face behind it.

“Fight you, now why would I do that? You don’t want anybody here to get hurt, do you fire mage.” The sound of the man’s voice was beginning to scratch Natsu’s ears. He seethed at the cool implications of the mage. As Natsu started to see Gajeel’s knee make contact with the cloaked man’s face. Throwing the enemy backwards as he fell off the roof and his cloak went with it.

“Not like you to ask questions first, Natsu. Let’s get this over with before he decides to go haywire with that magic of his.” Gajeel growled his skin turning a silver color as his scales took over with his Iron dragon slayer magic. Natsu laughed as he looked over to see a brown haired man stand dazed by Gajeel’s earlier attack. Natsu charged forward a fist of fire heading towards the man. Quickly the enemy raised his hands up catching Natsu’s wrist as he skillfully threw the pink haired mage into the building next to him. Natsu was caught by surprise by the brown haired man’s strength grunting as his back collided with thick concrete. Natsu grunted in pain, hearing Gajeel go for the man again as the debris settled.

Gajeel’s arm turned into an iron sword, swinging at the brown haired stranger. The man jumped and aimed a punch to Gajeel’s face but yelped in pain drawing his fist back from the iron scales. “Nice try slow poke.” Gajeel teased grabbing the brown haired mage and throwing him against the nearby building. Natsu gained his bearings back rushing over to Gajeel as he growled at him.

“Not fair Gajeel, why do you get all the good hits?” Natsu grabbed Gajeel as the iron mage scoffed.

“Because you’re too clumsy and slow flame brain.” The two bickering gave time for the brown haired mage to stand. When there was a sudden rumbling noise, both dragon slayers looked over at their enemy with his hands pressed together.

They fight so often that they actually learn to recognize each other's magic by the little details, scent and feel and even taste, plus the heat. Whenever Gajeel fights someone who also uses fire magic, he scoffs, 'cause it's not nearly as intense as Natsu's.

Natsu gets a special rush when Gajeel glares at him with those red eyes. He starts pissing Gajeel off on purpose as soon as he knows Gajeel likes him too much to do more than glare.

Natsu also delivers Gajeel the promised song thanks to losing the bet during the Tartaros arc. It's pathetic--he needs help from so many people just to figure out what he's doing and to compose something that doesn't halfway suck....but Gajeel ends up liking it.

They can't lie to each other. With Natsu, it's because he just sucks at lying outright and Gajeel always calls him on it. With Gajeel, though, it's because Natsu actually knows him really well and knows his tells.

Gajeel still likes playing with knives, and Natsu finds that very hot.

Similar to how Natsu is very protective of his scarf, Gajeel is very protective of his hair. He may put enough product in it to keep it contained for special occasions, but that's all--he doesn't respond well to his hair getting damaged and cuts it very rarely. Their first big fight--like couples have, not like they usually have--comes after Natsu cranks the heat up too high during a sparring match and burns some of it. Gajeel sulks and Natsu apologizes later.

Well into their relationship, Gajeel gets another piercing, on the side of his jaw. Natsu noticed it but took a while to ask, and Gajeel refused to explain it except that it was meaningful. Turns out it's the spot where Natsu first kissed him, and he only got it once he realized he actually loved Natsu. The piercings themselves date back to a practice Gajeel picked up in childhood I'll elaborate on in a different post.

Gajeel does not have the fond feelings towards Metalicana that Natsu does towards Igneel. Natsu gets on his nerves inquiring about it, and it causes their second major fight, because while Gajeel loved Metalicana, the wounds left by their sudden disappearance never really went away.

Natsu and Gajeel never get married. The closest they get is some tattoo work implying their relationship.
