Dusty Davis Named NAIA All-American
WALESKA, Ga. - After earning Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors, Dusty Davis has been named an NAIA Second-Team All-American after voting by the NAIA-Baseball Coaches Association (NAIA-BCA) All-America Selection Committee.
Davis finished the 2013 season ranked in the top 20 in six categories nationally, including 12th in total bases per game at 2.418. The senior set the school record for hits with 83. His .423 batting average ranked 15th nationally and led the AAC by over .030 points. Davis' 44 RBIs led RU and ranked seventh in the conference, with his 11 home runs ending as the second-best total in the AAC this season.
In his two years with the program, Davis hit .376 with 17 home runs and 80 RBIs. He finished his career with 145 hits in 110 games played.
The senior is the third RU baseball player to achieve All-American status. Davis is also the sixth RU student-athlete to achieve All-American status this year, the most in the history of the athletic department.
