I feel like the bigger a piece gets, the more I lose the finer points… Anyway!

So you get a two for one on this one. The Bodyguard prompt had me thinking. My first round was Bodyguard Spades, cause he is already very Guard Dog Coded. I was thinking Mafia/Overlord Desha with the unwaveringly faithful Spades, from a family that takes pride in being the best of the best hitmen/hunters/guards. Spades is the oldest of the third generation (Jango, then the Commandos and Big Name Clones, then his family tier) with Voc and Airlock as his little brothers, the rest of the boys as even younger cousins and niblings.

But having the clones be the guards felt so done and dated, so I kept their family hierarchy that I built in my head and made them the overlords and Desha the guard dog!

Padawan - Knight - General

I feel like Nahno would have been so blindly devoted to the Code before the Wars. Having been abandoned on the steps of the Temple of Eedit, to her the Jedi are the generous benefactors, the ones who took her in when her own mother despised her. She’s only just strong enough in the force to make it through training, she never would have been actively sought out as a youngling.

After Desha’s death in the first year of the Clone Wars, and her Trials in the aftermath of that, she began to change that view. I wanted her saber to reflect the change she goes through, going from the ever-obedient Padawan who looked so desparately for approval from the older Jedi, who was strong in the Living Force but forced it all to the side to please the Jedi and her own Master Desha, to the General who valued the sacredness of life over any victory and was willing to behave a little less Jedi-like to ensure as many of her men made it back as possible.

I’m sorry yall, I see that I didn’t share this with you! This was the first of my texture and lighting practices with Nahno, before the fireflies piece. Nahno and her Master were almost done with her training when the war broke out. Nahno has very poor Force control, as such she is rather old for a padawan and is coming up on aging out. She does well not to have to rely on manipulating the Force around her, but when the war breaks out, she finds herself focusing more and more on keeping her troopers alive and less on missions, which means mastering the power that had elluded her for so long.

The Code says that all life is sacred, and Nahno saw that extended to the troopers, where her master saw them as pieces of a larger puzzle and did not approve of the lengths Nahno would go to in order to keep as many of her troopers coming home as possible. This led to her master leaving Nahno behind more often then not when charging into the fray. Scope, a Captain that prefers to take longshots from the back and holding a solid line of defense, soon becomes a favorite of Nahnos. She relies on Scope’s ability to spot weakpoints from his position, diving in and suring them up before any major losses of life or ground could occur.

Taking a break from my skater project to look at what my character Nahno would be if she had been a pure blood on EITHER side.

Nahno is half human, and half Togruta. Her Togruta mother slept with a space port jumper, a one night stand that wasn’t supposed to mean anything. It meant Nahno, who her mother promptly dropped on the steps of the nearest occupied Jedi temple as soon as she showed the slightest Force sensitivity.

It’s been banging around in my head, what would her life look like if she had been one or the other, Human or Togruta?

I think as a Human, she would have lived on the lower levels of the big city planets like Corusant, either an orphan or one of a large group of unwanted children forced to scrape a living from the gutters they lived in. She would be an amazing pickpocket, would be entirely Force null, and end up in one gang or another. In really dark renditions, she would be taken under the wing as an accompliace of smugglers and Sith. Her compassion and desire to help would make her deathly loyal when she believes that someone deserves her devotion, and easy to lure in given her loveless upbringing.

As a Togruta, she would be the prodegee that Desha wanted. She would be chosen as soon as she was of age to leave the creche and trained mercilessly. Gifted in the lightsaber forms, she would rocket to the top, growing arrogant as even full fledged Jedi found her a challenge when sparring. I think she would make Knight by the height of the Clone Wars, but she would go full Krell. Seduced by the dark side, she would begin using her troops to win victories for Sepratists. Her self-assured arrogance and good standing as a Quality Jedi would cause the council to cast a blind eye to her “string of bad missions”. She would pull her troops out of crucial planets, leaving them open to occupation, so she could win them back and be even more lauded as a Jedi. Much like Krell, her Commander would have to turn on her and either turn her in or kill her.

I think I really hate how this turned out, but I am too pleased in general? SO here, have it. Maybe you can help a nerd out. What went wrong here? I know my perspective got kriffed but I can’t figure out HOW... Spades and Airlock are on a balcony a floor ABOVE where Desha and Nahno are training. I cannot figure out why this still looks so... flat. And I definitely snatched their waists WAY too much. This will likely get thrown in the redraw pile for later.

On a side note, I think this is the first time I’ve shared Commander Spades with you, he is Desha’s right hand. Where Airlock is a bit more of a wild child, the rules are more like guidelines, as long as everyone gets back in one piece kind of vod, Spades is painfully by the book. Nahno’s early inability to make the tough choices and leave her men behind meant that Spades was often running missions beside Desha rather than on the line with his brothers. Their combined No Nonsense approach has gotten an otherwise chaotic Regiment out of some unbelieveably tight spots when the blasters on their back.

Lastly, anyone got any good tips on managing their armor? I normally lean more towards thick leather than hard plastoid so this is all new to me.
