I've drawn too much so I wanna talk again about oot/mm ravio and hilda
I've been getting ill thinking about funger again so I wanted to think more about what powers oot/mm ravio would have.
I was thinking that he wouldn't do any fighting himself maybe he would resurrect dead royal guards to protect him. Since he begins to work with Hilda as an adult in their mortuary (maybe a hall of dead like in Skyrim), he would take advantage of having access to the bodies in order to use in battle.
Of course this would go against his own morals related to the way he was raised as the occultists prioritize respecting the dead and the idea that the dead should stay dead.
In order to summon the dead he would have to learn a song, but he has to sing instead of playing an instrument. He keeps all the lyrics to the songs he learns in a small book he carries around (very cliche).
When he's turned into a child, one of the main ways he gets information out of people is by forcing spirits into performing acts that a child would normally be unable to do. He also uses these spirits as replacements for guardians (parents) in order to play off the idea that he's just a normal child with his parent(s). He refuses to seek comfort from these spirits as that would count as exploitation for him, and he's already forcing them from the dead so he doesn't want to do anything worse than that.
Now I did decide that for personality he will be softspoken and almost never talks (many even think he's mute), but he's not at all shy. I still like the idea of him respecting the dead more than people that are alive (treating THEM like they're spirits), but that does begin to change when he meets Hilda.
When he meets Hilda as an adult the two are very closed off with one another. Hilda doesn't truly believe Ravio was sent by the deity of the forest (lorule equivalent of the deku tree - I just decided to call it The Great Stump..) so Ravio has to prove himself slowly to her. But the problem is that Ravio just.. doesn't... care.. too much about proving himself to her specifically as he was just told to go stop a certain tragedy that is to happen in Lorule.
He just wants to go home like.. as soon as possible..
Eventually, I think one of the reasons he begins to hold empathy for Hilda is because of how hard she tries. Especially with the restoration of Lorule and when she begins to teach him about it, he becomes so.. confused? Why would you try so hard for something that will inevitably fail? Why are you so scared of dying? It's not as terrible.. It might even be better to give up.. just rest.. at least that's what he believes.
But obviously Hilda does not agree with that stance at all. They grow bitter at each other, or rather Hilda at ravio. Ravio for the first time feels some sort of shame for being so despised by someone that it actually gives him a glimmer of curiosity, and it pushes him to have more empathy for others.
Once he starts doing that, tragedy strikes and Ravio is forced into the past. Since the Master Sword in this au doesn't work at all, I think Hilda or someone else casts some sort of magic on him to force him into the past as a last resort. I guess because he is the "chosen one" for this au, Hilda believes it's smarter to cast him away from the present to buy the two of them time. He gets cast back to the forest as a child, and he has to sneak away from his home to continue his adventure.
I think him being cast back into his child self makes him reevaluate a lot of the world, as he is no longer seeing it from the perspective of an adult in the outside world, but rather a child in the outside world.
It forces him to confront a lot of the seclusion that he grew up with and how it has hindered his sense of humanity (despite how happy he has been with his life as of now)
He becomes friends with a young Hilda. He meets her this time because he specifically seeks her out. He meets her and she's very polite with him and it catches him off guard but he appreciates it.
He tells her what he knows and Hilda believes him. And so they form a plan to stop the tragedy.
Hilda tells Ravio of her idea of disguising herself as a boy in order to help him.
At some point Ravio enjoys the company of Hilda and actually wishes he could stay here as a child and forget the future, but he begins to feel deep guilt for betraying Hilda in such a way so he decides to keep his promise to help her. He also does scare himself thinking that as he has been taught to respect the dead, and that includes not fearing it. Going back in time to become young again would be disrespectful.. in his mind I guess.
Again he's not scared of dying but only stays alive for the sole reason of learning all he wants to learn. What does begin to scare him about dying, is the idea of leaving Hilda. I think... I don't know...
Hopefully no contradictions again, I'm just spitballing.
edit: the main thing that messes up Ravio will be him being forced to relive every three days in mm. It begins to form into him fearing immorality.
And eventually when he does die by his own hand, the lingering essence of his spirit and it being tied to lorule forevermore, is kinda the last reminder of the empathy he ended up forming throughout his adventure. That empathy forces him to stay "alive" in the world, as he truly wants to know what happens towards the end.. for closure. (Kinda like the Hero's Shade)
So it's kinda like a punishment for him, as he's forced to "live" forever technically..
