You know I talk too much Honey, come put your lips on mine And shut me up We could blame it all on human nature
Nirvana has a soft spot for a wannabe adventurer who gets really excited talking about his interests and is always trying to make friends. In all the years, Nirvana has become the first person to get Naaber to stop talking. 🥰
Pushing my Naavana agenda on all of you, please enjoy. Yapper x Yapper supremacy.
A BG3 GIF set no one asked for: NAABER!!
The most Amoa response in the game thus far:
Poor Naaber.
[And no, when I hit this scene last night, I was playing as Tav Riven, and she did NOT pick this option. When I get here with Durge Riv, you're damned right she will.]
Riven's face. /smirk.
Look at this guy! Cut him some slack, Riv.
Grom and Gillian have joined the Naaber Appreciation Club™, Companions didn't approve~
WHY IS EVERYONE SO MEAN OH MY GOD

okay but i do 100% unironically love naaber tho like buddy's out here just trying his hardest. at what? we dont know. but he's trying his hardest
Confession: no asks about naaber ive seen yet. anyway i think he's sweet and i want to peg him till he cries then tell him how good he was after. him and the bad bitch (me) he pulled by being autistic
So I was playing some Baldur's Gate 3, and there's three characters who I feel like Larian weren't treating fairly when they were made. Alfira, Quil Grootslang, and Naaber. Let me explain.
If you first meet Alfira in the druid grove in Act One, she's practicing her lute and trying to write The Weeping Dawn. Nearby are a pair squirells clutching their heads, and if you speak with them using Speak With Animals, they'll say about how awful Alfira's singing is.
I call bullshit. Watch this video of her singing.
If you listen to this and think she's a bad singer, there's something wrong with you. And the closest option you get to defend her to the squirells is to say she's trying her best. You don't get to call them the fools they are.
On to Quil. You only meet her when playing as The Dark Urge, and only if Alfira is dead or unconscious on the night where she's meant to appear. She explains that she's travelling to Baldur's Gate to have her songs published. And these songs are sung in the throat singing style of Tymanther, homeland of the dragonborn. If you let her stay at camp, you can talk to her and have her sing a song in the throatsong style.
These are the reply options when she's done.
Sarcasm, rapid subject change, saying it has anthropological value, or running away. There's no option to genuinly compliment her if you're playing a dragonborn or - shocker - actually like the throat singing. She exists to be mocked and die.
And lastly, Naaber. He's a minor character in Act Three. You find him in the store Carm's Garms, where he will try to get the party's attention upon entering. And if you leave without talking to him, he will follow for a short distance.
If you talk to him, he'll reveal that he's a would-be adventurer who doesn't know what class to be, and he has a different dialogue for each class. Talk to him multiple times to hear them all, and one last time to be given a magic necklace.
The game seems detemined to shit on him for the crime of being talkative. If you kill him, use Speak With Dead, and leave after only asking three questions, the narrator says 'His body longs to rest, but his spirit doesn't stop talking, even as he returns to what one can only hope are the deepest depths of the Hells.'
And I'm just like, what did he do to earn this sort of ire? His worst crime is that he talks alot and likes talking. Yet we're meant to think he's awful for it?
So yeah, these characters feel to me at least like they weren't given fair treatment by Larian. What do you think?
