My backrooms. like, as a whole. part of my premise I s'pose? The start of my explanation of my versionâŚ. This post will prolly get followed up later when I think of stuff I shouldâve added here
"Realities are like ripples in a pool."
"...Flowing within one another, not entirely separate. This place, if its âwavesâ align with another, has a tendency to pick things up along the way."
Basically as The Backrooms passes by other realities it takes souvenirs. People of course but places and memories. Itâs just a thing that happens. When, where from, and what passes through is unpredictable.
The Backrooms doesnât understand the actual reasons or uses for things, leading to its strange architecture that resembles buildings and places in reality. Think of how (generative thing that shall not be named) does not understand the meanings of things. It just adapts itself to mimic what it sees. As much as I use personifying language the place isnât exactly âaliveâ. Kinda. More on that later.
This place is sparingly referred to as âThe Backroomsâ in the setting. Most people have extremely varied names for it. The Other/Flip Side, for example. Only a couple groups (and people who interact with people within those groups. more on them later) are likely to call it The Backrooms.
As this setting is also being used for a DND campaign, a lot of influences come through from that as both DND and personal versions are slowly getting tighter and tighter knit into each other. (There being multiple realities is a consequence of this.)
There are still some differences, though, and any time something is exclusive to one version or the other I will mention it. These are story differences that usually just have to do with leaving stuff open for player influence :3
Thatâs all for now, I will probably talk about The Yellow Halls next or start posting some art. If you have any questions feel free to use the askbox!
