I hope the visual aid sort of explains it. They accentuate any shadows they enter. The amount and radius depends on how big the smiler is.

A smiler’s fur is mostly shades of black but can be different in hue and sometimes have patterns.

Smilers with discoloured sclera have impaired vision, impacting their ability to see in the dark. Some manage but many don’t survive into adulthood because of it.

Young smilers typically hunt in small groups. Moths are a popular choice at their young age until they get brave enough to take down human or larger prey.

A group of smilers is called a merriment.

As they age they become more solitary, they eat less often and begin hunting for entertainment. They could stalk someone for weeks, even months at a time.

The Yellow Halls is an immense organism home to an array of rooms sharing similar yellow walls, damp carpet and loud fluorescent lights.

We don’t know why people seem to fall in and around here the most, it’s possible that it’s just ‘closer’ to other realities relative to the rest of this place, or perhaps The Yellow Halls intervenes in some way.

When people die here, while no one is observing their body it will disappear*. The creature seemingly consumes the bodies but it’s not known how. The wallpaper acts similar to the outer layer of skin, areas where the wallpaper peels away the next growing layer can be seen underneath. People have tried to break through the surfaces here but whatever material it is made out of is too thick.

The fluid that leaks through the surfaces here is the organism’s metabolic waste, it appears throughout the halls but in greater concentration where people have died.

Descendants of moths that came here through the Habitable Zone generations ago, these yellow moths made themselves home here. They are larger and generally less aggressive than the rest of their cousins. They feed off of The Yellow Halls’ waste, wretches and the occasional rat they find here.

I say “generally” less aggressive as it is mainly the females that are quite passive. Their species doesn’t see much predation and they have plenty of food. The males, when provoked and especially while swarming, can get just as agitated as their counterparts.

Humans who either come into contact with carpet fluid or stay in the halls too long will get infected by it. If untreated, their body becomes saturated in the fluid and their mushy skin will fall off.

Wretches continue to break down and eventually turn into immobile mushy carpet fluid-steeped flesh. The moths love this stuff so much the males will go out of their way to search for it.

About the * earlier, this was undetectable before. The Yellow Halls had a phenomenon where natural geometry was ignored, no matter how far you went you would not be able to find another person. The recent phenomenon that affected all of this plane caused The Yellow Halls’s geometry to make sense.

Due to its proximity to the party there are worries that it will become infested with its creatures.
