Thought it might serve to let her stretch her legs a bit.â He was smiling as he pulled the car over, you looked back to see the dog's ears perk up and he was right. She ran into the field, her paws kicking up little puffs of white dandelion; pure joy.
âWe should do this for her more often, sheâs so happy.â You were watching as she bounded left to right, looking back at the two of you every so often to make sure you were still there.
âWe will.â He put his arm around your shoulders as you enjoyed the late afternoon sun; sheâd run back when she was ready.

It was freezing out.
The fall air was whipping around as you took the dog out for a walk, making sure she did her business before turning in for the night.
Ezra had volunteered but heâd been driving for hours and you could feel how tired he was. You took her out in the little courtyard of the motel youâd stopped at, the moon was bright and aside from the cold it was lovely out. Being in the car so much meant treasuring any time spent walking around, stretching your legs.
You imagined Ezra back in the room, taking a hot shower. Brushing his teeth and putting his soft pjs on. You could almost see him squinting his eyes at his paperback. Still wanting to read a few pages despite how tired he was and you couldnât help but laugh when you walked back into the room to see him doing just that.
âWhatâs so funny Birdie?â He didnât look up.
âOh nothing, youâre just predictable is all.â You couldnât keep the smile off your face as you changed into your own pjs, making your way to the bathroom to brush your teeth. He watched you.
âAm I now? Should I strive to be more spontaneous?â He spoke to you through the open bathroom door.
âNo, I like you predictable.â You spoke through a mouth full of toothpaste. You finished quickly and quickly got into bed with him so he could wrap himself around you like he usually did.
âHow much do you like me then Birdie?â He pulled you closer to him, with him you could never get close enough.
âI really like you.â You breathed it out, sighing the words as he kissed up the column of your neck.
âShow me.â He whispered it into your ear, sending shivers down your spine, causing your heart to race and your body to weep for him.
