Single father Macaque au.
Anyways so this is just a rough drabble so itās subject to change later on.
Okay so this au starts pre-episode 1/pre-canon. The canon also goes a little differently in this au. (By this I mean Wukong finds MK sooner than in canon meeting when MK is just a young teen instead and they meet by Wukong actively finding him)
Anyways, Macaque and Wukong have had a great relationship, they live together on flower fruit mountain, theyāre married, the heavens arenāt currently after them, and theyāve been blessed with a family.. they have a healthy little girl, a sweet little thing who just turned 15 months old a few weeks ago. Nothing could ruin this day.
Until it does.
Wukong and Mac have a big argument so he leaves to blow off steam by going off and fighting. One of the demons he fights curses him to forget everything from the past 5 years or so. (Basically his memories are locked behind a paywall and heās poor.) So he suddenly doesnāt knowing about Macaque being his mate + their cub and when he finally does go back to the house Mac and TĆ”ozi are already gone so he doesnāt find out about her.
A year or so passes and MKā a young teen meets Wukong and becomes his student. When Mac eventually sees them he resents MK since heās like; āTHIS?? This is the life he left me and our daughter for??ā Meanwhile Wukong is completely unaware that their daughter even exists.
Anyways so Mac basically goes to steal MK from Wukong like in canon but this time itās only because he wants to know what this kid has that he and TĆ”ozi didnāt. He wants to know why Wukong left for this life instead. Once he gets to know MK he does feel sad for projecting his resentment onto this ray of sunshine.
The kid is innocent and he knows that but he just canāt help the anger that bubbles up when he remembers that Wukong abandoned them for another. Especially since MK knows nothing about Macaque (whoās currently using glamour to not look like himself since heās not emotionally stable enough to risk being seen by Wukong yet.)
Unlike in canon though he leaves MK alone this time. He just goes back to his daughter instead of trying to steal his powers.
More lore stuff happens and all that but after a year or so Wukong finally sees Macaque and gets his memories of Macaque being his mate back. He tries to talk to him but Macaque thinks heās just playing dumb to avoid the consequences of his actions about how he abandoned him and their daughter.
Wukongās confusedā daughter?
He doesnāt remember having a daughter, especially not one with Macaque. TĆ”ozi who was hiding in Macaqueās shadow comes out to defend her mama and Wukong stops. He gets his memories of his daughter back and realizes that this isnāt the 15 month old he left.
This is an 11 year old girl. A girl who doesnāt remember the other simian at all. After a while of back and forthās they figure out that something is amiss and set about finding out whatās all going on and why Wukongās memories seemed to have been missing for so long.
They find out his memories were locked when he was fighting some demon to blow off steam and then after a while of talking and trying to get better they get lots of therapy/counselling since even though Macaque knows it wasnāt fully Wukongās fault the hurt is still just too raw and he canāt just blindly trust Wukong again.
Then they make out or smt, idk again this is just the drabble outline yāknow?
Tldr: Wukong leaves Macaque and their daughter after promising not to ever leave him again. Mac is heartbroken and their daughter is too young to understand why her mÄmÄ is crying and why her bĆ ba isnāt coming home. Sheās sad to see Macaque sad but no matter what she does he just wonāt cheer up. Wukong meanwhile doesnāt have his memories and so he doesnāt even know he had a cub with Macaque. Heāll only get his memories back only after seeing their girl and Macaque together but by then she canāt remember him and Mac is still festering heartbreak from the misunderstanding.
(Dw chat they get back together after a very long time and a lot of talking.. and therapy. Lots and lots and lots of therapy, couples counselling and family counselling)
