Frobin Week Day Seven
Theme:Â MamhlapinataeiÂ
Word count: 1410
Notes:Â Iâve had this idea for a while, and have been wondering whether to use it for Frobin week or not. It fits the prompt pretty well though, so I decided to kind of half-do it for now. I will be reusing this idea in the future however as a longer, more in-depth and past-tense oneshot based after âAfter the Rainâ and before a sequel. Also, all of my works this week have been from either Robin or Frankyâs perspective. Youâll find this one it a little different in that sense (:
Theyâre up early. Sanji glances at the shipâs archaeologist and shipwright whoâve risen with the sun. He notes the way they greet each other in the cool morning air with both an enthusiastic exclamation and a quiet smile. Sanji finds himself smiling too. They seem happy. He stands from the place heâs been camped in for a few hours (he had the second watch tonight) and heads towards the kitchen to begin preparing breakfast. As he passes them, he displays his usual greeting and offers to bring Robin a coffee, which she gladly accepts. As Sanji heads into the galley and closes the door behind him, heâs sure he sees the two walking along the deck together to watch the sunrise.
âŠ
After breakfast, Chopper is cleaning out a cupboard in the infirmary. He discovers a storybook tucked away at the back. He is unsure of how exactly he obtained the book, only that itâs been there since before the incident two years ago. However, he knows how much Robin loves books and that she will appreciate him showing it to her. So he finds her out on the grass by the swing and hands her the book. Robin flicks through the first few pages, before offering to read him one of its many stories to which Chopper excitedly listens on. Halfway through, Franky comes over to listen. He sits in the grass beside Chopper and Chopper wriggles closer to the cyborg, who, in turn, pulls him into his lap. They both listen as Robin continues the story. When the story is nearly finished (just when the prince is about to kiss the princess), Robin glances up momentarily and looks at Franky. Chopper looks on. Franky is also looking at Robin. They are just staring at each other, their eyes locked in contact. Chopper doesnât understand whatâs going on. But after a moment, Robin continues her reading.
âŠ
âWhat were you saying, Nami?â she asks, âJust before.â
Nami is momentarily side-tracked, before remembering what she was talking about.
âOh yes,â she says, âAbout theââ She doesnât get very far.
âExcuse me for a moment, Nami,â Robin interrupts again, her eyes back on the cyborg, who is now coming up towards them.
Nami notes the mischievous smile they both sport. And then Robin is gone, quickly into the opposite direction. Nami can almost swear she heard her giggle, but chooses to dismiss it as a fragment of her imagination.
âŠ
Sanji has just come along with afternoon tea, and Luffy is enjoying the food. He heard from Nami earlier that Franky and Robin are playing some sort of game, but as he looks around now he sees nothing to suggest that. Theyâre not even near each other at the moment; Robin is up in the library whilst Franky is down in his workshop, no doubt working on something awesome. Luffyâs eyes light up just thinking about it. Just after lunch, heâd seen Franky showing Robin some sort of thing. Robin must have liked it, because instead of looking bored, she laughed. Even so, Luffy couldnât understand what was so funny about it. It was awesome, sure, but laughter was a weird response.
Having finished his afternoon tea, Luffy goes to bother Sanji for dinner.
âŠ
The call for dinner has been made, and Zoro stands from where he has spent the afternoon snoozing. He makes his way toward the galley, yawning as he does so. Itâs been an uneventful day. Entering the galley, he sees that Luffy is there already, and hungrily drooling over the smell of the cooked meal. Franky and Robin arrive last and together. Zoro notices the pair are smiling as though theyâve recently been laughing at a joke.
The meal proceeds relatively uneventfully, with Chopper excitedly babbling about some story Robin read for him earlier. As the little reindeer continues, Zoro notices Robinâs hand bump against Frankyâs. Twice. Very subtly, the pair remove a hand each from the table. Zoro isnât certain, but heâs pretty sure that if someone were to look under there now, theyâd see the two were holding hands.
âŠ
After the table has been cleared, Usopp heads down to his factory to store his new harvest of Pop Greens. He passes Frankyâs workshop and decides to double back. Sure enough, the shipwright is in there, working on something. Usopp enters the room and enquires about it. Franky invites him over and proceeds to explain. It is a mechanical garden-assistant. The little device will keep the garden at a fairly consistent temperature; very useful for a ship in the New World, where a ship can transfer through several seasons in only a week, causing a strain on any flowers or plants.
Usopp is about to ask a few more questions, when there is a small knock at the door. Robin is there. Usopp notices the grin that spreads across Frankyâs face upon seeing her.
âMind if we end this here, bro?â Franky asks him.
Usopp glances to Franky, to Robin and back, noting the way the two look at each other. âN-not at all,â he responds.
âSuper,â Franky thanks him, and he and Robin leave the room together.
Usopp wonders about them for a moment, before remembering he has a new harvest of Pop Greens to sort through.
âŠ
It appears to be a quiet night. Brook takes a seat on the upper deck with a cup of tea, ready to take tonightâs first watch. His mind is in the beginning stages of trailing off when he notices a pair of his Nakama appear on the lower deck. Strange, as it is becoming quite late. Nonetheless, Franky and Robin are unaffected. Brook watches them as they laugh together, their hands held as they discuss something Brook canât quite hear. But he doesnât need to.
He knows what he sees, and he doesnât even have eyes. He stands and picks up his violin, slowly easing into a smooth tune that blends into the night. Itâs all about atmosphere, and Brook is willing to support it. Franky and Robin make no recognition of his presence, but seem to slowly move together with the rhythm. Though Brook may just be imagining it. He watches as Franky carefully lifts Robin into his arms, so that she is facing him and they are eye level. They are looking at each other, deep into one anotherâs eyes. They are close. Very close. Leaning inwardsâŠBrook imagines theyâd be able to feel one anotherâs breaths. He continues his slow, smooth tune, watching intently for what happens next.
But as quickly as the pairâs encounter started, it stops.
Brook finds himself holding a note, having expected more from the advancement between the pair. Robin has pulled back. Franky seems to understand. Gently, he sets her feet on the ground. She looks up at him, almost as though apologising, but he shakes his head. There is no need for that. Robin trembles slightly, leaning in and taking Franky in a simple embrace, burrowing into his chest which she barely comes up to. Franky returns the gesture, softly stroking at her long black hair.
Too soon, perhaps. Not yet. There was a time when Brook may have experienced that same feeling when he was young. But that was a long time ago. He slowly eases out of the tune, having it fade in the night, and turns back to his seat to give the pair some time alone. At the very least, itâs a start.
Frobin Week Day Four
Theme:Â Unexpected
Word count: 367
Notes: This one was extra fun to write :D I hope you enjoy it.
It was a complete mystery as to how theyâd managed to become more lost than Zoro would in a logically-structured city. After an unanticipated turn of events, a quick detour had turned into an impressive and epic trek through the woodland. The three of them were not bothered by it, however. At least not yet.
âIâve heard there are wolves as big as bears in these parts,â Robin voiced passively as though discussing her favourite type of flower arrangement.
âW-what? Really?!â Usopp exclaimed.
âIt would be bad if they hunted us down and tore us to pieces.â
âDonât say things like that!â the sniper shrieked, pulling his Black Kabuto closer and eyeing dark spaces within the forest in anticipation.
âIâm super sure we can deal with a few wolves, Robin,â Franky said.
âThat may be so,â Robin agreed, âBut did I mention theyâre able to change in size in order to sneak up on their prey? They can revert to the size of a kitten and hide in shrubs, and quickly grow to their full size and jump out on unsuspecting victims.â
Usopp suddenly took the lead, wielding Kabuto with a menacing composure, as though attempting to frighten away any potential attackers. Â âIf youâre out there, come and get us!â he shouted into the wilderness, âNo wait, donât! No, do! I, the Great Captain Usopp will make you run with your tail between your legs! Ha!â
Robin chuckled quietly, having gotten the reaction she wanted.
âAre there really any wolves in this forest?â Franky quietly asked.
âWho knows,â Robin replied, watching as Usopp cautiously approached a suspiciously quavering shrub.
He poked at it with the end of Kabuto, prompting no wolf, but a collection of chipmunks to emerge. They attacked him anyway.
âBut if heâs occupied with that, he might not notice this.â
Franky glanced down in surprise as her much smaller hand extended to his. Smiling, he released his smaller, mechanical hand from his massive palm, taking her offered hand and then enclosing his larger hand over the pair of them. The two fell into step together at a steady pace as they and the sniperânow covered in wildlifeâcontinued their adventurous detour.

Frobin Week Day Three
Theme:Â Shame
Word count:Â 442
Notes:Â This one isn't that shippy. Posted later this time, because last time I was an idiot who posted my piece at 12.10 in the morning Australian time, so it was before most people had even done their day one. I learn form my mistakes~
They had all the time in the world. At least, thatâs what heâd thought before all this had happened. Now they didnât even have a moment. Not for another two years.
Franky glanced at his reflection in a nearby mirror. Well, not so much a mirror as a reflective metallic surface, but it was the closest thing to such. He was still wearing the tiger rug from before. The whole âSacred Burning Beast of Barujimoaâ hysteria had still yet to die down, though it meant that no marine personnel or townspeople were game to come to these parts to investigate. Kitton and the old man would come by sometimes, but they overreacted whenever Franky removed the rug. It couldnât be helped, he decided. He was working on a more super body after all. Heâd be able to take the rug off when they were around soon enough. Two years wouldnât be too bad. Franky only wished heâd had more warning beforehand, however. One moment it was only going to be three days that the Straw Hats would be separated. Next thing, it was two years. It was needed, he supposed. He was due for an upgrade, after all.
He was about to get to work when he noticed a light snowfall outside. This wasnât uncommon in the slightest; the stuff was everywhere, after all. But this time, he chose to go out and stand in it for a moment. To watch and feel as to floated gently to the ground, as though time around it grew slower. It was a shame it had to happen this way, but when he thought about it, it was better than any alternative. And two years would fly by even faster than a group of marines running from a blazing tiger-beast.
**
Far away, in a different snowy landscape, Robin sat in the revolutionariesâ carriage as they took her to wherever it was she was wanted. Two yearsâŠher thoughts glazed over the recent newspaper article. It was a pity things had worked out in such a way, that her and her Nakama would be separated for two whole years. But perhaps this was for the best. If anything, Sabaody had taught them that they needed to grow stronger should they advance any further. And thatâs exactly what they would do. When the time came, theyâd pick up the pieces and continue from where theyâd left off. All they needed was time. Robin reached a hand out of the carriage, catching a stray snowflake as it fell. It was only two years. Not twenty. And then they would have all the time in the world.
Frobin Week Day Two
Theme: I'm here
Word count: 863
Notes: This feels as though it should be part of something bigger, but I dunno it just came for me. I hope I got them both in-character enoughâŠI think I did, given the situation. The situation itself is fairly ambiguous, so Iâll leave it up to your imagination for what happened here. Even so, let me know if it sucks.
She couldnât remember the last time sheâd run this fast. Maybe she never had. Sheâd done a lot of running over the years. But this time was different. This time was very different. Â In the past, sheâd been running for herself. Running for the sake of her own life, which was so often sought after. This time she was running, but for a far different reason. A reason that pushed at her calf muscles with much more intensity than any chase could. And still, Robin pushed herself to run faster. This wasnât like the other times. This time she was running for someone.
It must have looked bad. She couldnât begin to imagine what Franky would be feeling right now. She could feel the tears pricking at her eyes, but they only made her run faster again. This couldnât be happening. Their stop at this island was meant to be a relaxing break from their crazy misadventures. But it was not to be. Not long after arriving, the crew had become swept up in the islandâs troubles as they so often did. So much had happened in their short time there, Robin could barely make sense of it. All she knew was that she needed to find Franky, and sooner than later.
She was out of the town now, racing over the frost-covered ground of the forest. Fighting for the sake of others was something she never could have considered a few years ago, and right now thatâs what sheâs doing. Fighting the dire possibilities. Fighting time. Fighting the illusion.
A lone shack sat at the end of the forest path. That had to be it.
Robin almost tore down the door as she burst into the room. Her hands were shaking, and she could feel her entire body trembling, not just from exertion or the cold. Her gaze immediately landed on a large form hunkered down in the middle of the room.
He was there. She wasnât too late. That was a start.
Nonetheless, her breath hitched as she stepped further into the room and he looked up. He stared at herâor rather through herâwith a look Robin had never seen him use before. And how she hoped sheâd never see it again. It was so blank, so lifelessâŠas though he were on the verge of giving up. It wasnât Franky.
âAre you an illusion?â he asked.
Robin felt her heart breaking, but knew she needed to stay strong. âNo,â she responded firmly yet gently, âBut what you saw earlier was.â
Franky looked past her, the same empty expression present on his face. As though he was looking on at nothing but a fragment of his own imagination. Nothing but an illusion.
His lack of response was too much for Robin. She stepped forward and wrapped her arms around him. Seeing as he was sitting, it was quite an easy feat. âDoes this feel like an illusion?â she whispered, ignoring the fact her tears were now spilling out and soaking through the cyborgâs shirt.
Franky was still in there somewhere, She knew it. And she knew she could break through to that spot, and set him free of this grief-stricken stupor.
âItâs okay,â she assured him, âWeâre all okay.â
A few moments passed and Robin felt nothing but the heaving of her own shoulders as she tried to hold together the broken pieces of the man before her, the man sheâd always known to be so strong, so cheerful. Franky had been strong for her so many times in the past. It was now her turn to be strong for him. Sheâd nearly lost track of the time that had passed, when a large hand encircled her waist. âR-robin?â Frankyâs voice sounded. âYouâre alive?â
Robin felt the warmth of relief flood over her immediately, and looked up, not letting him out of her embrace. Yes. This was the Franky she knew. Although his eyes reflected a strange confusion. âYes,â she nodded.
Although freed from the illusion, Franky undoubtedly still had the terrible memories of what he thought heâd seen only a short time earlier. Robin could feel his large body trembling in her grip, and leant in once again, holding onto him tight as she explained.
âThat whole thing was staged,â she said, âNone of us were there. It was fake. Heâs an illusionist. He set it up to get to youâŠbecauseâŠbecauseâŠâ she took a moment to recompose herself, âBecause he knew that if he made one of us think the others were killed, weâd be vulnerable.â
âSo you didnâtâŠno oneâsâŠâ
âWeâre all okayâŠâ she repeated, holding him all the tighter, âNami and Usopp are at the port. Theyâve reclaimed the Sunny. Chopper and Brook are in the town, and theyâve helped quench that fire. Luffy is at the Bell Tower, âkicking that bastardâs assâ while Zoro and Sanji hold of his minionsâŠâ
Frankyâs other hand looped around her body as he hung on in a pained relief. âIâm not crying at allâŠâ he sobbed.
Robin felt a small, elated smile as she blinked back her own tears. Her cyborg was back. It would all be okay. ââŠAnd Iâm here.â
Day One
Theme:Smile
Word Count:376
Notes:Â Lets start with something lighthearted ~ This was written during a Psychology lecture. Hope you enjoy it :)
A smile is contagious.
Franky has always known this. Heâs not even sure when or how he learned it. It could be something he discovered from experience early in life. Or it could be one of the many things he learned from Tom. Maybe itâs just something thatâs always been ingrained deeply within his soul, or perhaps a combination of the three. Whichever the case, one thing is for certain; he loves making people happy. So it pleases him greatly that wherever he goes, there will always be someone he can make smile. He can switch from serious to silly in an instant to ensure the happiness of those around him, be it giant children or his own crazy crewmates. He will always find a way to make them smile and laugh, and that, in turn, makes him happy.
However, some people donât show their smiles so easily. Yet despite this, Franky has found that itâs often the smaller things that bring them out. That is why early one morning, a few hours before sunrise, he takes an opportunity.
âFrankyâŠI didnât know you were up,â Robin says from where she is sitting, keeping watch in the crowâs nest.
Franky puts down the basket heâs carried up with him, and pulls out a rug which he proceeds to lay out on the ground. He then pulls out a hot jug and two cups, filling them with coffee.
âI thought you could do with some super company,â he says as she takes a seat beside him, âSome coffee as well, of course,â he adds.
Robin accepts the mug of coffee sheâs been given. She takes one sip, and then another.
âHow is it?â Franky asks, pouring his own mug. Usually heâd prefer cola, but he can make an exception this morning.
When he usually asks her questions like this, itâs regarding his wild and outlandish inventions in effort to impress her. On those occasions, she betrays limited interest, no matter how big or super the spectacle may be.
However, this time Robin lets slip a true smile, and Frankyâs human heart skips a beat at the sight.
âItâs pretty super,â she responds, and proceeds to laugh at his responding grin.
