200 images with 30 sec exposure each stacked on StarStax, ISO 800, f/3.5. I live in the city center so light pollution is a huge problem, as you can see from the orange glow on the bottom half of the image. That said, Iâm quite pleased with the end result. The dotted lines were airplanes with blinking lights! @cosmicvastness on instagram
âLIFE IN A METROâ
âLIFE IN A METROâ
It was a regular Monday morning and as usual I was getting ready for office. One negative of staying alone as a bachelor is that there is no one in the morning to really help you or force you to have breakfast at home but I wonât really complain. I take out my car and as usual, play my favourite songs, on high volume, and enjoy the drive to the metro station. The traffic in Delhi is so chaotic and brainless that one who loves to drive will also not really take the risk of stress driving. Yes, thatâs how driving in Delhi can be termed as âSTRESSFULLâ. I reach my metro station and park my car with that angry look on the center of my forehead as always, as I never find a suitable place on the ground parking and always have to park in the basement and in turn shell out Rs 80 heavy bucks everyday against Rs 30 light bucks for surface parking space. Whenever I reach the parking spot of this metro station I wonder how people really make it so early just to park their cars on ground parking to save those 50 bucks but at the end of the day early comers do save Rs 1100 a month. (Iâd utilize those saved bucks in having a nice beer with my lady love đ).
Ok, so cutting my parking woes short letâs continue through my day and here I reach the platform after racing against so many others to rightfully stand on the marking made on the platform where the door of metro will exactly open. HAHAHA, looking at the peopleâs expression at the very time makes me laugh out loud inside when they see that someone is standing already at their favorite spot but still will really make all their efforts to just make sure that they are also in the race of getting inside the metro and grab a seat, by willfully squeezing in a little and trust me, itâs so funny to experience this. (LOL)
So, at last, I make it inside and get my preferred and favorite seat and sit comfortably and then comes my phone in my hand to check all the messages and play games and attend other official/personal calls. But in an hour-long journey to my office destination I come across so many kinds of people. Trust me itâs difficult to find such a vast and vague variety of people under one squeezed roof ever and I am that lucky one to witness that every day, sometimes to my horror and sometimes to my laughing friend inside me (HAHAHA). The game I am playing on my mobile during my journey, obviously doesnât continue for long hence it gives me enough time really to observe all the fellow passengers and check out their minute to minute activity.
There are many who knows that you wonât get full network when the train is underground even if you switch your data off but still they will pretend to keep talking to someone on the other side, just to make sure that others watches them. These are the ones who would really take your attention towards them by talking loud and always laughing in between, (as I observed, they laugh on an average after every 45 seconds) making others believe that their phone service provider is good for nothing or the government is good for nothing to make sure that there are enough network boosters installed in the tunnels on all train routes, as if you are the most imp VVIP in that metro. LOL.
Anyways, this goes on and then there is some 19 years young boy, going to college, who would be engrossed on his car race or wrestling game on his mobile and is shaking his full body as if he himself is taking all the blows physically and to top it up, making those funny sounds of uff, shit, fuck man, oh god, et.al. Makes me wonder and remember my playing days when I used to play video games on tv and used to take out same familiar sounds đ.
Then someone will suddenly come in front of you and stand right almost in your face to make sure that you become equally uncomfortable as him, but somehow it doesnât bother me, and instead my one look and a nice subtle kick from under the seat says it all and I smartly cover it up by gesturing my hand. Poor soul thinks itâs an apologetic gesture but little he knows that itâs a warning signal that you better stand properly :P. But at the end of the journey I feel strong that I didnât bow down to this lovely affair of traveling in a metro (HAHAHA, I am so devilish).
Also, in this vast ocean of people in metro, we have these lovely beautiful aunties or rather I should call them ladies, (Aunty nowadays is an outdated word, LOL) who so lovingly looks at you, by standing right in front of you, while you are sitting, as if you have committed a big crime by grabbing a seat and by not getting up and offering that seat to the lady. you are committing a horrific, rather, biggest crime of your life by being seated comfortably in front of the lady or ladies. Itâs like as if youâd go to hell if you do not offer your seat to the lady. Well, if you donât then who knows you are being cursed by the lady from within in her heart and the next moment you see yourself getting up and offering that seat to an old lady or a man, and if at all, out of a noble thought, you decide to offer that seat of yours to her, youâd surely be replied with a âTHANKSâ and sometimes that thanks can sound and make you feel that you have bathed in Ganges and washed away all your dayâs sins of traveling in a metro at that very moment.
You know the sins donât you!!! Yes, the sin of racing against the people to stand at that marked point where the door of the bogie will open, the sin of just running in the bogie in a hush to grab that one seat which is being eyed by 10 others, Sin of taking a sigh of relief after you get a seat, and the sin of keeping that expression of comfort on your face while you are seated. Come on, donât you think these are big sins!! Well âLife in A Metroâ while traveling does makes one feel the same at the end of his journey.

Golden Handle
Once a month the Sun and the Moon are just in the right angle so that you can see an effect called âthe golden handleâ. It happens when the Sun illuminates the Jura mountain range but not yet the floor of the Sinus Iridum crater next to the mountains. This is the first time Iâve gotten a photo of the golden handle! Iâm beyond excited. (And again, Iâm using binoculars and a smartphone, so the quality is what it is.)

Some test photos from my star trail exercise. Thereâs two satellite trails in the first one and a shooting star in the upper right in the second photo. The slightly lighter area going through both of the photos is the Milky Way.

Some Moon again. For some stupid reason I thought it would be easier to capture the Moon when the sky is light and the Moon barely visible... It's not. You can see some pink sunset clouds in the second picture though! (Taken with a phone through binos)Â
