I’m making this post for the benefit of anyone who hasn’t bought MyAEW yet and is still considering if/when to switch over from Triller. I have not yet seen anyone mentioning the difficulties I’ve run into.
My friend and I both got it to watch Dynasty without the stream delay that Triller was going to have and we ran into three problems within that viewing:
1. There is a “streams” icon at the top of the webpage where the live video feed is displayed. This icon is what you click to choose your language. This icon remains on screen when you try to put the video in full-screen mode, causing there to be a dead border around the video like you’re back watching pirated mirrored Naruto on youtube.
Quick fix: right click the webpage, select Inspect, in the html search bar type relative flex flex, hit enter, then delete the portion of code that contains those words by clicking it (a small paragraph of text should appear to be highlighted blue) and hitting your delete button. Reloading the webpage undoes this action.
2. The spacebar on your laptop does not pause the feed, nor does clicking anywhere inside the video player. Play/Pause only works by clicking exactly on that icon in the bottom left (or if you have an inbuilt play/pause button on your keyboard, like my F10).
3. We started the stream 45 minutes late. Once the live event ended our video feed cut off. Reloading the webpage redirected us to the home page and we had to go find the PPV in the archive and resume from there. This happened to us again for Dynamite tonight but our delay was only 15 minutes, which was not enough time for the show to be up in the archive. We had to wait a WHILE until reloading the archive finally displayed our Dynamite for us to resume in the middle of Thekla’s promo.
My assumption for why Triller never did this to us is probably because the streams and the archive of those videos aren’t treated as completely separate entities that are hosted on different pages.
Additionally, the entire website and especially the home page are difficult and unintuitive to navigate. If you do buy MyAEW I suggest giving yourself about 20-30 minutes to figure out how to use it. Don’t sign up minutes before the show or ppv you intend to watch. (You would not believe how long it took me to figure out how to give them my money when I wanted to buy the ppv. You’d think that would be front and centre on the night of the ppv.)
Overall the UI is pretty shit and the structure supporting the streams is, let’s say, lacking. It feels very much like someone’s First Ever Website, a ‘someone’ who also seems to be trying to reinvent the wheel. Given that you cannot re-sign up for an AEW subscription on Triller now once you have cancelled it, I would caution against getting rid of it just yet. I am glad I held onto mine, and I’ve cancelled my subscription to MyAEW. I’ll check back in in a month or two to see if they’ve figured out how a video hosting website is meant to work.
I got MyAEW almost as soon as it launched, and I've mostly had good experiences with it. For some reason during the first PPV I bought the stream wouldn't go fullscreen, and it was enough of a surprise to me I assume every episode before that did and I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary - couldn't SWEAR it always went fullscreen, but I'm pretty sure it did. But then for some reason during that PPV and afterwards it wouldn't - there was a 'bar' of background at the top with options for the stream language. It didn't ruin the experience for me, but it was kind of distracting, and wasn't the same detailed experience I'd had on Triller. In the last few weeks it's been flipping back and forth between fullscreen and that - I assume it's a resolution issue, but it's just weird I didn't have it initially, and I've tried playing with the settings and it doesn't change anything, so idk.
Also MyAEW turned out to be a bit more expensive than Triller, because Triller sold everything to me in American charges - the exchange rate meant I paid a little less than the amount in dollars, usually. And then there are also little extra fees (tax or something?) that they charge on top of the subscription/PPV advertised prices.
But overall I'd recommend it, there've still been some timing issues with the streams not being on when the show is broadcast sometimes, but I think that might be to do with having to schedule them at the same time as Triller broadcasts - I'm hoping that now Triller aren't doing AEW broadcasts, they can set their own schedule and it will improve. But generally speaking I've had a pretty good experience with it - the stream quality's good, it's steady, I've had some signal drops but no more than I had on Triller, my screen issue might not affect anyone else, and it's pretty affordable still (especially compared to the American pricing). And now Triller's dropped AEW broadcasts completely, for all I know it's the only international option for people.
I did, however, plan to drop Triller as soon as MyAEW turned out to be a good alternative, and then I stopped myself. Because I realised a lot of the stuff I owned or liked on Triller, I wouldn't have on MyAEW. For now Triller's letting you still access any PPVs you ever bought with them - I shudder to think what it'll be like if they stop hosting them, and I'll have to either buy them all again or hope they're up somewhere for free. But a lot of the stuff I like most came from episodes, not PPVs - I'm guessing MyAEW will put up the whole archive at some point, but for now it's not up there. The Joe match, from Grand Slam 2023, for example was on a regular episode - they put up Youtube cuts or videos online sometimes, but they're rarely the whole match, and I like to see the whole package if possible. Thankfully, that particular problem was fixed, because MyAEW put up a massive video of all of Max's title defences from his first reign including that one in full <3 But there a lot of other little bits and pieces that I honestly don't know if I can get hold of again, until MyAEW uploads more episodes (and I have to go searching through them), at least.
The TL-est of:DRs is - I keep wanting to go back and watch things from the MJF-Samoa Joe feud from 2023 (having collected as many of those things as I could), but I'm a little bit afraid to go and see what's left of it. A lot of stuff was from Youtube videos and Tumblr clips I think - but not all of it. Triller had many (many many) issues, but to its credit, at least it was there.
ETA: A friendly soul has a fix for the fullscreen issue, so I thought I'd share it in case anyone else was having issues
Oh my god does myAEW not have captions?? That's a major and disgusting accessibility issue

I signed up for MyAEW and will be using it for Dynamite tonight to see what the stream quality's like. If it's good, I'll buy Revolution there and probably start using it from now (luckily my Fite subscription runs out in a couple of weeks). If it's bad, I'll probably be here complaining about it. But hopefully it's good. It sounds like Triller TV's in trouble and might go down the tubes at any moment - and even if it wasn't, there are so many broadcast issues I'm ready to try another service anyway.
I really liked MLP last week but I found the commentary audio far too low. Watching week 2 now and I can already hear that this sound mixing is sorted now! 👍
It still baffles me how difficult and unintuitive it is on MyAEW to find an episode of Collision that streamed 12 hours ago
