âbut why?â he pouted childishly, arms held up mid-air, about to form a heart shape before he slowly let it fall. âiâm just showing you my support, you know.â
the sound of chattering around them turned into white noise as woohyun and chanyeol continued to converse. the taller of the two had been asked to perform at the cafe woohyun worked at that late afternoon. being the supportive and kind (also slightly embarrassing) friend he was, the hunter jumped at the chance to show chanyeol the love and support he deserved.
which meant woohyun had spent the entire duration of the performance throwing small hearts at chanyeol , which quickly escalated to bigger hearts. although it would momentarily stop when woohyun had to take, deliver or make an order or the shorter maleâs co-worker went to thump his head. it didnât discourage woohyun though, especially not after chanyeolâs performance.
the hunter immediately approached the singer and showered him with overflowing affection which would not have been so bad if they werenât in a busy cafe and woohyun was supposed to be working but instead he was throwing hearts at a much taller male without any hint of shame or shyness.
â Yes, I know. Thank you. I appreciate it. Itâs just slightly distracting since I keep wanting to focus on the hearts youâre sending my way instead of what Iâm supposed to be doing. â
The musician didnât have the heart to tell the other why he was truly asking him to stop. Itâd been an ongoing struggle that had been going on for as long as he could really remember. The hearts and support did make him feel more at ease on the stage, and it also helped him to feel good about his performance, but he still thought that maybe there was a little more behind Woohyunâs actions than he was letting come across.
The slightly younger boy felt pretty guilty that he could never tell Woohyun that heâd only ever see him as just a friend. He was sure that heâd been accidentally feeding the hunter false hope for all of this time. The worst part? Chanyeol hadnât even told the other that he was in a relationship. He knew that was a pretty huge bit of information that probably needed to be shared... so why couldnât he bring himself to do so?
The answer was obvious. He was terrified of hurting the otherâs feelings. They were friends, and they had been for quite a long time, and what if he really hurt Woohyun? He couldnât bear the thought. Simultaneously, he couldnât bear the thought of carrying on with keeping his relationship status a secret. It almost felt like he was living a lie. He was most certainly making things a lot worse than they had to be.Â
He uncomfortably shifted on his feet and tried to stand a certain way so that Woohyun possibly wouldnât catch sight of the marks that his boyfriend had left upon his neck. Heâd occasionally bring his hand up and pretend to be leaning against it, or heâd look down in an awkward fashion. Laughing rather nervously, Chan reached out and hugged his friend. â Your support drives me. But.. donât you think you should be focusing on work? â There was another laugh, but this time it was more genuine. â You wonât get in trouble for hanging out with me over here instead of taking orders over there? â
