Matt thought he would be able to make his way back to his spot in the medical ward, but he’d thought too much of himself and had ended up sitting down in one of the long caverns along the wall.Â
He thought that he would try and sit and meditate, but as soon as he did, he heard his teacher’s words, and then his father’s. Hers was next.
“You aren’t here. None of you are here,” he told them and himself. He knew the voices were disembodied, but that didn’t mean they were harmless.Â
Right after he spoke, he heard new footsteps. He focused on the noise, wondering if it was a phantom noise or if it was actually a person. When he determined it was a person, he gave a polite wave. He wasn’t sure if they would walk by him or not.Â
“Morning, or whatever it is,” he offered to them.
