“You always have to oversell something to sell it! That’s capitalism, baby!” - Nick c:
𓃬 THE QUARRY STARTERS! 𓃬
this very bold and bright stranger is, without a doubt, giving a compelling pitch for himself at least.
it's been one of those nights where fallon's let the wind take her—the wind being her friends—and they've ended up at one of those spots in chelsea that she always feels too bland and too small to stay inside for too long. she'd slipped out the back door onto the garden patio, bummed a cigarette from someone (she doesn't even smoke, she's just been rolling it back and forth between her fingers), and had been contemplating sneaking out front to hail a ride back to the apartment when this guy'd come over.
something about why she was 'hiding' over here, to which she'd given some lame response about 'just trying not to sell the idea that i'm as cool as everyone else here'. and then:
“you always have to oversell something to sell it! that’s capitalism, baby!”
fallon snorts before she can even try to put the glum and oh, so shy thing back on, then lets herself laugh fully as she leans back against the brick wall.
"ok, alright, fair enough. but what if i have nothing to sell? then what?" there's no bite to her words, and she's looking up expectantly for his answer to that query. your move, way-too-cool-for-me person outside the bar.
