Hey beautiful followers! I recently got an ask saying I was making a lil' mistake in my signing, and they're probably right, even though I did the research. Anyway, I NEED TO MAKE IT CLEAR THAT I AM NOT DEAF. I AM NOT FLUENT. I am only minimally hard of hearing. I learned from my dad (who IS deaf) as a child, and HE IS NOT FLUENT EITHER. I have taken two years of classes. That's it.
I. AM. NOT. FLUENT.Â
I probably make mistakes, and I'm not someone to learn from, and I am NOT a representation of the Deaf Community. I know as much as someone who's taken two years of Spanish or French or any other language.Â
Sign language is not a fun secret language to learn from a book. It's a real complex language with its own grammar and rules that needs to be learned in a classroom setting, along with its history and the community it lives in.
