So, the party of four that was supposed to join us ended up going to another location! So it was just us....but we had fun!! #breakoutindy #museumheist #oggyandyoder
Sheâs not sure who came up with idea first, but she knows itâs too late to turn back now because theyâve already bypassed the security systems and knocked out a handful of guards.
Artemis glances over at Robinâs computer screen as he quickly clicks through security cameras to follow Wallyâs path through the corridors, across the marble floors. They scoped the place out for a week now, so they know where all the guards should be by now, and they arenât expecting any surprises.
So Wallyâs already halfway to their prize.
Artemis has her bow at the ready just in case while the other two maintain their own jobs. Wallyâs their speed, Robinâs their brains, and Artemis is, for all intents and purposes, their muscle. Not that sheâs any stronger than them, theyâre all on an equal playing field on this team, but sheâs the one without another job. She couldâve pulled off something undercover, and she has before with these two, but this isnât that kind of mission.
âGrab the Van Gogh,â instructs Robin. He taps around a little more. âAnd the Monet, that should go great on the black market.â
The words makes shivers roll through Artemis, but she knows what she got herself into.
The one beside her laughs. âShould we get a little greedy, or nah?â he asks with this broad, cheeky smirk before a cackle swipes it off his features. âThe Picasso, too, KF.â
She glances to the screen to watch Wally stuff all these paintings in a briefcase that Robin had given him less than fifteen minutes ago. In and out. They were almost there. And their runner was wasting no time in finishing off his assignment before heading back to the doorway, waiting for the signal.
âGo,â breathes Robin, and Artemis can practically hear the high in his voice, like heâs getting off on this. She knows she doesnât, but itâs the same buzz that Wally had just seconds before going into the building. But sheâs the one who got into bed with this idea, and sheâs not backing out now.
Kid Flash dashes down hallways, passing bigger paintings that they wouldnât be able to carry, bolting past dead security cameras. Heâll be out at their rendezvous point within two minutes.
The archer rises to her feet, heading for the door, knowing Robin canât unplug until he knows with absolute certainty Wally is in the clear. âYou know,â she says softly, âwe could get the others in on this. Pull off entire bank jobs instead of just museum heists.â
He cackles before unplugging with a sharp tug at the cord. âYou know the rules, Arty.â She hates it when he calls her that. And he brushes past her, through the doorway, disappearing around the corner. But his voice, disembodied, says, âNo one needs to know.â

iâm so glad you came to me, julia. letâs see what i have in my files to assuage your need. or make your feels worseâidk, theyâre the same thing to me. thereâs some unashamed links to my fics in hereâoops.
(also i tried to stick to small text but i gave up halfway through so iâll come back and reformat later)Â
letâs see⊠letâs look at some of the fifty sentence set i did way back when, shall we?
#06 â Dark
Growing up in Gotham, sticking to the shadows is second nature to the two of themâitâs Wally that pulls them out.
#39 â Solid
Heâs their rock, and he accepts the role without missing a beat.
#40 â Spring
The air is fresh and filled with promises, and Wally plans on making them both get out of Gotham to enjoy it in all its glory.
wally is so, so incredibly important to dick and artemis, and what i talk about here is really only scratching the surface. iâve already talked about why i think wally is so important to dick, because he was dickâs first real friend and one of the only people he trusts with his backstory and his identity. he was a light in what was a dark time for dick, and i donât think that ever changes (you canât convince me that dickâs subdued demeanor in invasion canât be partially attributed to wally and artemis not being on the team).
as for artemis: iâm pretty sure i donât even need to explain this to you, lol. you know what wally is to artemisâhe plays a similar role that he does to dick, which is challenging her to see the good in things and challenging her in general (and she does the same to him and keeps him in checkâreally, the dynamic between the three of them is very much centered around keeping each other in check, except for when they decide as a group to just go âfuck itâ and do what they feel is best). really, though, artemis and dick do not have it easyâtheyâve been through hell in more ways than one, and, hell, we all know growing up in the midst of gothamâs shitty areas/the criminal underworld canât have been any picnic.
and, wow, wally west, man. heâs a beacon for them both, someone who isnât going to let them be consumed by their demons, someone that reminds them that there is more to life than the dark and dank streets and smog of gotham city, more to life than the criminals and ghosts that plague themâawake or asleep.
and theyâd make fun of him and poke his sides and generally make him a big old buttmonkey of their snark and hit him when he eats the majority of the fridge (which is all of the time). theyâd do their best to gang up on him during snowball fights but the truth is heâs unbeatable andâof courseâthey all have a competitive streak a mile wide so we can all imagine how that turns out. they exploit wallyâs sensitive feet together and he always tells them to stop but they all know he doesnât mean it. sleepovers happen all the time at his place because the west family spoils them all rotten.
wally is⊠well, i think this sums it up:
#35 â Roses
After eying the petals scattered around the room, Artemis and Dick exchange glances, stifling affectionate snickersâitâs just so Wally.
i think wally is comfort in conventionâthatâs the most succinct way i can put it. not that wally isnât unconventional in many (many) ways, but think about it. dick and artemis had such untraditional, unstable upbringings that having someone that grew up in the midwest, in a well-adjusted home with a supportive familyâthatâd be so incredibly refreshing to them.Â
so, uh, i know traught dynamics have probably been talked to death but i do need to take a second and mention just how important i think it is that artemis and dick both (not just artemis having dick or dick having artemis, mind youâitâs mutually beneficial and supportive and i feel like a lot of time that gets lost when people talk about/write traught??) have each other. because, wow, thereâs really only so many things you can explain to someone before it comes down to âyou just donât get itâ and i feel like growing up in gotham is one of them. thereâs a sort of weight added to your step when youâve walked through the narrows or seen crime happen under your nose on a daily basis.Â
and thereâs another dimension to it, because being the only normal kids on the team had to mean a lot to them, because no one else understands that. i wrote in a fifty sentence set that they chose to be heroes in a way the others didnât, really (yes, i acknowledge wally made the choice to recreate barryâs accident to give himself powers so he could be a hero, which gives the three of them even more common groundâbut at the end of the day he has an advantage dick and artemis donât), because itâs one thing to have powers and decide to use them in a way that benefits othersâitâs another to take it upon yourself to become capable of helping others, of training for hours and hours to just manage to reach the level of their super-powered friends.Â
and i think dick needs to be there for wally and artemisâ sake, really.Â
#14 â Fire
Dick is always terrified that the two of themâWally and Artemisâwill burn so hot and so strong that theyâll all go up in flames.
preface: iâve made no illusions that i do not ship spitfire, and thatâs based on what weâre given in the show as canon. wally and artemis are two very, very intense people. theyâre both prone to getting defensive, they can be incredibly abrasive, and confrontational, and they charge into things without thinking a lot of the time. but add dick into the mixâi think thereâs a lot of potential for him to act as a buffer for them both, because heâs more level-headed than the pair of them (not alwaysâheâs blinded by things like his ambition and his desire for control which, again, wally and artemis would help to reign in when it got to be too much); heâs logical and rational where theyâre more ruled by instincts and emotions. that isnât a bad thing for any of them, but it helps to have balance.Â
and that goes right back to why he needs themâwhen heâd brush off how he feels for the sake of maintaining a facade of rationality and reliability, artemis and wally would see right through that. theyâd make sure he didnât lock himself away. theyâd likely be two of the only people heâd confide his fears regarding turning into batman, and thatâd be something theyâd be watching for, because they donât want him to turn into that, eitherâthatâs not dick. dick can be narrow-sighted and have tunnel vision when it comes to his goals and objectives, something i think that comes from a lot of time with bruce. but dick is also light-hearted and a troll and absurdly bright in more ways than one (it blows them both away at timesâartemis and wally are shown to also be incredibly intelligent, but i think dickâs mind reaches a different level), and heâs compassionate and loving and understanding.Â
i think season two shows what impact the absences of wally and artemisâon top of everything elseâhave on dick. heâs on edge, heâs subdued, heâs less interested in going out in the field⊠he had the world riding on his shoulders and two of his closest friends werenât there to help him get through it (one of them was practically a stranger to him iâm not bitter what makes you say that and criticizing his every move, and he was actively putting the other into very grave danger)
i just. i have a lot of ideas for how these three ultimately get together as a triumvirate, but one of my favorites is wally and artemisâas a coupleâspending so much time with him, not really realizing theyâre all getting more and more comfortable with each other and at first theyâre like âoh wallyâs head in dickâs lap is totally platonic and so is the way dick is running his hands through wallyâs hair and itâs definitely a just friends thing when artemis absent-mindedly reaches for his hand or dick leans over her shoulder and just a little closer than necessary to whisper something conspiratorial in her ear.â until, suddenly, it stops being platonic and none of them can be bothered to even care. wally and artemis donât know how to be without dick and dick is at his best when heâs with them and they all bring out the best in each other and i just.Â
#11 â Earth
Looking at them, their mentors canât help but feel as thoughâif they so choseâthe trio could bring the world to its knees.
#21 â Head
When it comes down to it, theyâre too damn smart for their own good.
being mutually beneficial for each other!!! and loving each other and kicking ass together!!! god i love and hate these stupid losers so much.
this is really only a fraction of everything iâve ever felt or thought about, tbh, but this seemed like enough of headcanon and meta mixed together for now lol. iâve never done a formal explanation quite like this and definitely not of this length, so thank you for giving me the opportunity.Â
Like, no oneâs ever alone if one of themâs busy. Wally and Artemis can keep each other company when Dickâs off doing dynamic-duo stuff late into the night. Artemis and Dick enjoy spending holidays together while Wally joins his family. And Dick and Wally get to hang out and play foosball all day while Artemis goes shopping with Mâgann and Zatanna.
On the anniversary of his parents' deaths, Dick is practically squeezed until he's purple by Artemis and Wally in the biggest bear-hug ever. They tell him it's okay to cry and provide not one, but two pairs of shoulders to cry on and it always makes him laugh when Artemis and Wally pretend to fight about whose shoulder is the most superior.
They share a GIGANTIC bed. Like, think California King + another twin bed. They take turns being the middle and thus the snuggle-lord :D
They also have their own comforters. Theyâre ALL such blanket hogs itâs ridiculous.
They have a insanely large shower too with 3 shower heads and a center marble bench for .. stuffs. Sometimes their water bill gets really high..
But not everything is about sex! They do lots of other fun activities together, like blanket forts, pizza parties, ice-skating, movies (Wally always sits in the middle because he hogs the food).
One time Wally got into an accident and had to be hospitalized, so Artemis and Dick worked out a sleep-schedule where one of them would always be by Wallyâs bedside. The doctors and nurses loved them. They would sneak in cookies and extra jello cups for them.
When Artemis is PMSing sheâs the luckiest girl alive. Theyâll sit her on the couch, turn on her favorite TV show or movie, and Wally will give her a head massage while Dick paints her toe-nails, and if she needs anything, anything at all, ZOOOM goes Wally to the store.
When two of them get into a fight, thereâs always a mediator to help smooth things out. As a result, the fights never last very long!
It also helps that thereâs an unspoken rule that no 2 should ever gang up on 1, and thereâs 0 tolerance for nasty gossip!
One time they had to go to a fancy smancy Wayne fundraiser party, and Artemis walked into the living room wearing a strapless, very-form-fitting, red dress. Wally and Dickâs jaws just DROPPED. Needless to say they were very late to the event..
Dick and Artemis both love it when Wally wears button-up shirts with the sleeves rolled up 3/4 of the way. Canât get enough of it really.
And when Dick wears a suit? Gaaaaame over.
Underwear parades. âNuff said.
During the hottest days they like to walk around the house completely naked. Itâs fantastic. Sometimes one of them will throw on a feather boa, another some Kanye shades, and the third a sombrero, and no words would be exchanged. They just continue on their daily in-house activities without a comment, until someone snaps and bursts out laughing because Wally is dusting the shelves with his feather boa while jiggling his hips.
The BANTER oh just THINK OF THE BANTER. All that snark! It drives everyone absolutely nuts! Batman practically has a hernia every time heâs near the trio.
If Artemis ever gets pregnant omg she would be pampered like no other. They make sure sheâs never sore or tired or frustrated and just really really take care of her. They donât want to do a paternity test because of course Dick and Wally are the fathers. And then she gives birth to a healthy bouncy baby boy with brown hair and hazel eyes and the battles to hold him are just epic. And then the boy lives the best life ever because thereâs always a parent to go to school events, always a parent cooking amazing meals, and always a parent to go to for hw help and heâs surrounded with so much love and respect and witty banter and together the four of them create the happiest family ever on the earth.
fandom: Young Justice (animated)
characters: Artemis, Robin, Wally
ship: Birdflash, implied museumheist.
summary:Â Artemis is a voyeur.
word count: 1k
notes: written mid-season one. a sort of precursor to Not a Crowd.
preview:Â
"It's a rare occasion that Robin and Wally's relationship is in the forefront of her mind. Right now, however - turning the corner to find them in a full-on liplock - she isn't given much of a choice."
Artemis does not fancy herself a voyeur. Honestly, what other people do is entirely their own business. The team's coming up on adulthoodâwhat happens in one's room stays in one's room (and if you're smart and/or considerate enough to remember Conner has super-hearing, all the better).
Not to mention she really doesn't want to know just how often Wally decides to blow off some steam with Mr. Sock. Yes, that's its nameâthe unfortunate happenstance through which she discovered this is not one she particularly likes to revisit ("I am never doing the laundry again, you hear me?"). No, Artemis isn't going to go observing or even commenting on PDA. She learned a long time ago, with the occasional night spent in Star City with Ollie, that it's best to just walk away. Goodness knows that would make training with Canary⊠interesting.
Speaking of discomfort, though.
It isn't often Artemis finds herself mulling over the mechanics of Wally and Robin's relationship. They both came out several months before - shortly after Robin turned 15 - and told the team (and only the team), that they were an item. Artemis, at the time, leveled quite the skeptical smirk at Wally.
You think you can convince me that there wasn't anything before? She sees the looks the two shoot each otherâknows the way they send shivers down her spine.
An arch of the brows was the only response, but it was all the answer she needed.
Can you prove otherwise?
And she let it drop from there.
It's a rare occasion when the matter ever returns to the forefront of her mind, besides the few instances of PDA - which, outside a quip or two, she pointedly ignores.
This time, however - turning the corner to find Robin and Wally in a full-on liplock - she isn't given much of a choice.
In an instant, she's out of sight behind the wall. Grateful for her quick reflexes, she's nearly certain they can't have seen or heard her (despite the squeak of sheer surprise she may-or-may-not-have uttered). No, they were faaaar too involved to notice her.
She begins to walk away, with every intention of wiping the incident from her memory (or so she tells herself), but the ghost of an image sticks in her mind.
No⊠it couldn't have been.
Despite whatever misgiving or doubt she has, she takes a deep breath and peers around the corner, wondering if she did indeed see what she thinks she saw.
She's lucky she's so good at controlling external reactions, else her jaw would likely be on the floor right about now.
The two are absolute fiends. It takes her a moment to determine where one starts and where the other begins. After careful observation, she's able to determine Wally has a hold of Robin 'round the small of boy's back, with the Robin's legs wrapped (more like glued) around Wally's waist, hands framing Wally's face and clutching his flaming red hair.
And within a second, Artemis confirms that she had seen correctly. Robin, despite being smaller and despite relying on Wally to hold him up, is inarguably dominating. Where Artemis might have expected Robin to be the one against the wall, with Wally calling the shots, she's still somehow unsurprised to see it's just the opposite. Wally's head tilts up into Robin's, their tongues dancing and teeth nipping. Robin pulls away, going to Wally's ear and doing something with his mouth that makes the speedster whimper.
If asked, Artemis will fervently deny that all of this is going straight to the area between her legs.
But, of course, with Robin's grunts and moans of approval almost coming out as his trademark laughter (it occurs to Artemis that this might be intentional) and Wally making those explicit groans and gasps, this is hardly the truth. Never mind the fact that Robin is without his cape and Wally's cowl is pushed down, leaving the two exposed (their uniforms leave absolutely nothing to the imagination) in a way that Artemis finds hard to disapprove of.
And then Robin grinds down into Wally's groin, and he's not the only one that gasps. Thankfully, they're both still too involved to notice the way Artemis almost squeaks (though there's nothing almost about it) when Wally's mouth goes to Robin's neck, the smaller boy arching to give him more clearance and goodness gracious the stretch of his neck should not be that sexy and how does he make baring his neck a gesture of dominance. Wally's mouth is making the most obscene sucking sounds, and Artemis knows there's going to be a mark there tomorrow.
It takes Artemis a second or two to realize that Robin's shift in position means he can see her peering at themâeasily. And when Robin suddenly catches her eyes through that mask (a mask should not make a fifteen year-old look that attractive), he winks.
Artemis practically sways on her feet, not wanting to consider that Robin might just be getting off on her watching (but who is she kiddingâthe thought sends more shivers down her spine). And before she can show any sort of reaction besides the wide-eyed shock of being caught, his attention returns to Wally, recapturing his partner's lips with a newly found fervency (putting on a show). When she sees hands moving south, she decides it's time to leave.
The next morning (after a far-too-explicit, entirely-too-wonderful dream filled with red hair and domino masks), there's a note on her door, written in a familiar, neat writing:
Unless you truly enjoy spectating, may I suggest taking a more active role next time?
It's several moments before Artemis has the composure to make her way to the kitchen.
