#muscles mouse

Merlin! I've always been interested in Merlin and wanted to see more of him. Probably my fav character from the Chuck Jones era of Tom and Jerry.

-Merlin is from the 1965 short 'Haunted Mouse' for those who don't know. Merlin WAS originally given a chance to make a comeback in the classic era in a short with Tom and Jerry, but he turned it down, wanting to focus on building a career on his own without needing Tom and Jerry's stardom to prop him up.

-Unlike Jerry and Tom, Merlin can’t talk at all (his debut short showed him not talking, so I went with him being completely mute). He’s completely mute. He doesn’t mind though. Means he has to be a bit more creative. 

-Merlin is a habitual sneak-arounder by choice. He has the quietest footsteps of all of Jerry’s family and is known to very easily sneak up on someone. 

-As a magician, Merlin is very skilled in sleight-of-hand. Not just with cards and coins, but with gestures as wells. However, this means he can come off as a pickpocket since he LOVES testing these skills a bit too much.

-Merlin loves capes! He has several capes he owns. He genuinely cannot be seen without one, he feels naked and exposed. 

-Merlin also likes collecting magic wands. He knows they’re inherently fake but wands are still a fun tool to have! 

-Merlin is very good at stacking cards on top of each other. He's built several card structures and towers just by sheer memory alone.

-Merlin LOVES blues and soul music! He feels it deeply speaks to him as a person and sometimes, he plays it while practicing his magic tricks. 

-Whereas Jerry likes board games, Merlin is fond of games involving luck and chance! He’s also fond of games involving dice in general. 

-Merlin is fond of the bats. Matter of fact, he really likes animals considered “spooky” in general. Bats just happen to be his favorite.

-Muscles isn’t just a physical powerhouse…he’s a BEAST in combat. Out of all the Tom and Jerry cast, he’s definitely the best fighter. 

-Muscles isn’t actually that angry all the time. He’s actually very jovial and boisterous to those who get to know him! He does love roughhousing with his family members as a show of affection, especially with Jerry. 

-Muscles is also great at lending emotional support to his family. He’s the solid rock you can lean on and a great giver of advice. He basically serves as the glue of Jerry’s family. 

-One of Muscles’ biggest flaws however, is that he SUCKS at asking for help himself. He genuinely believes he can do anything or fix anything on his own. As you can imagine, this has caused quite a few problems down the line for Muscles. 

-Another of Muscles flaws is that he has HIGH expectations for anyone outside of his family and friends. Naturally, many Toons can’t reach them and this annoys Muscles more than he’d like to admit. 

-A bad habit Muscles has is that he unintentionally intimidates people, even when he’s not trying to. Muscles’ is very assertive in general and can come off as aggressive at times in pursuit of his goals, so he can project a rather…harsh aura, which greatly scares others. He’s been trying to get better at this, to little success. 

-Muscles has a habit of his fingers clenching into his palms, mostly when he’s nervous but trying not to show it. This habit helps keep him grounded so he doesn’t TRULY get frightened or scared but it’s an easy tell for people who REALLY know Muscles. 

-Muscles is much more appreciative of human culture than Jerry is. Not to the point of wanting to suck up to the humans, but enough to where he’ll occasionally indulge in it. 

-Muscles is a belly laugher. His laughs are deep and throaty but they're incredibly genuine. Very few people outside of Jerry, the rest of Jerry's family, and Cousin George have seen Muscles laugh like this.

-Muscles and Merlin Mouse (from the Chuck Jones short 'Haunted Mouse') have a surprisingly unique bond. You might think that Muscles' tough and gruff personality compared to Merlin's calm and well-mannered demeanor would make them clash (and obviously, they sometimes do clash, especially over their methods and Muscles' general dismissiveness of "magic") but for the most part, they get along and have even practiced their gags together on free days. Both are also united in their care for Jerry. 

-Muscles is good friends with Tom’s cousin Cousin George. Sure, George is skittish and nervous, but George is also genuinely loyal and kind and Muscles deeply appreciates that. Jerry introduced the two of them together hoping they’d get along. 

Cousin George is SUCH a cutie! I really wish he showed up more.

-George is very nervous and shy in general. He keeps to himself and doesn’t start trouble with others, especially those he considers intimidating (like Woody Woodpecker or other “big names” of the Toon world). 

-However, what George has in nervousness, he makes up for in kindness and genuinity! He’s very respectful to those around him and quite loyal to those he considers friends, who alongside Tom, he’ll relax fully around. 

-Though perhaps he’s a bit TOO loyal. Once George befriends someone, he will literally do ANYTHING for them no questions asked. Even help them hide a body if asked to do it. 

-A bad habit George has is that he’s very easily startled (especially by jump scares). Even someone tapping him on the shoulder is enough to scare him. 

-He does gardening and botany for fun and as a way to relax. He can easily identify what any plant is and what certain types of plant-based materials are made out of. 

-Very environmentally conscious/friendly! He’s often cleaning up trash littered around Toontown (heavily protected from any form of germs mind you) and has even volunteered to take out several of Toontown’s garbage. 

-Ironically however, George is a germaphobe. Even though he knows he can’t get sick due to germs, the mere idea of having any kind of germs on him still freaks him out and he thoroughly washes himself down every time he comes into contact with anything considered “gross.” 

-George likes going to the park and having picnics! He often goes by himself, but sometimes he’ll get Muscles to come with him (Yogi has absolutely tried to steal George’s picnic baskets out of habit but George manages to thwart him each and every time). 

-George is also fond of hats. Straw hats, silly hats, fancy hats, it doesn’t matter. George will wear any kind of hat once. 

-Was just fine showing up for a single cartoon…he thought he would wear out his welcome otherwise and HATED the thought of having to deal with studio pressure and a demanding schedule like Tom did. Currently, he works as a landscape designer. 

-He actually was scared of mice like his debut cartoon showed…it was only thanks to repeated exposure therapy with Tom’s help before Timid Tabby premiered that he was able to work with Jerry. 

-He’s good friends with Muscles (Jerry’s cousin), despite being Muscles’ complete opposite. Jerry introduced the two of them to each other hoping they’d get along and balance each other out…and thankfully, they did. 

-George is the one created family member of Tom's that Tom keeps in fairly close contact with. They meet up once every month to see how the other is doing.

-George isn't big on Jerry. He understands Jerry is important to how the whole plot of the cartoon works and he appreciates Jerry for that...but Jerry's scrappy personality greatly puts George off.
