Replicating an actual scene in one of the cartoons?
Tom: Why is Tuffy on the counter? Jerry: He likes to be tall.
Tuffy: Hey, guys. Spike is totally off the chain.
[Butch, Tom and Jerry look at Tuffy, reacting in horror and fury, believing that Tuffy set him free.]
Butch: YOU MEAN YOU SET HIM FREE?
Tuffy: What? No. "Off the chain" means he's cool.
[The two cats and Jerry sighed in relief.]
Tuffy: And that's why I set him free.
[Jerry, Butch and Tom turn around to see Spike, who is seen holding the pot and free from his chains. Everyone but Tuffy and Spike is horrified.]
Tom: [with wide eyes] You let that maniac loose? Maybe you forgot that he grabbed me by the face. So I'll remind you. He grabbed me…BY THE FACE!
Butch: Relax! You've been hurt worse since.

Genuinely have been thinking about this for a long time, but do you ever think that in every short that we see Tom and Jerry in we’re actually focusing on a different cat and mouse duo alongside their branch of characters from different periods of time that merely resemble their past and present generational ancestors explaining how so many episodes jump back from the present day to as far back as the Stone Age or the medieval time. Whenever we see an episode where the cat of that dynamic dies, we’re watching the end of that rivalry and in the next installment, the progress of a new one to take up the mantle with presumably no prior knowledge of the other one’s existence damming the future generations to a endless cycle of violence that rarely any of them are able to break from outside of a few exceptions notably the iterations of the characters from The 1975 show and film from 1992 who evolved from these primal instincts and became a lot more friendly with one another as a result. Keep in mind these are the characters we are talking about.
Almost forgot, yesterday I watched some episodes of Tom and Jerry Gokko and took a few GIFs.
