Heresy
The Forgotten Knight was bustling with activity on this night. The Dragonsong war had become inflamed with the recent chaos, and the soldiers were seeking a moment of respite.
One group stayed to the corner of the room, drinking, and talking among themselves, while another was formed nearer to the bar. A blonde woman, fully armoured, apart from a helm, glanced towards the other group. There was a man sat with them, still attired in the armour of a lancer. His comrades bore shields, each emblazoned with the crest of House Fortemps.
They were no doubt from Dragonhead... It was a welcome sight, men from another camp... But this one in particular, caught her eye. She studied him quietly... his brown eyes, his hair combed back, threatening to fall into his face...
A smirk formed on her lips. He was cute...
As though the man could tell he was being stared at, he turned his head. The woman met his gaze for but a moment, before an elbow from a friend, drew his attention. The man's face became red, likely due to being caught out, staring back at this armoured maiden.

Elsewhere, not far from the tavern, the voice of a young woman could be heard
"I'm not a heretic... I just don't think the dragons are all that to blame... We do keep killing them..." she tried to convince someone, pleadingly. Her words were caught by another soul clad in armour. Though not who she had been trying to convince, his attention was certainly drawn. He listened, quietly, as her 'company' spoke back "That is heresy, you stupid girl"
"Yes, why else do you think we dragged you out here? To have tea with us?" another voice mocked
"The girl's clearly a heretic... Maybe we should show her what we do to heretics..." another added, unsettlingly eager...
"But I-" she was cut off aggressively "Keep quiet, witch!" her arm was grasped, by the gauntlet of one of the men "Where are you taking me?? This road doesn't lead to the vault!" she cried, realizing that the men had other plans for her "I said keep quiet!"
Footsteps approached, fast, and without warning, a sword sliced cleanly through one of the knights. He was cut in two across his middle, one half separating slowly from the other, until only half a man hit the ground. One of the knights spoke in panic "Shit!! It's one of them!!" he turned to flee, but felt bolts of black aether pierce though him. His own body slammed into the ground, pooling blood into the cold street.
The remaining knight pulled the girl closer, bringing an arm across her chest "If you want her, you'll have to go through me, dark knight!" he threatened, using her as a human shield.
A chuckle could be heard, distorted through the helm of the attacker. He stood, fully encased in black armour, holding a greatsword "You can not stop me" he spoke, humour in his tone.
Replacing the sword on his back, he raised a hand, allowing black and red energy to swirl around it. The eyes of both the knight, and the girl widened. In a flash of energy, that could only have come from the void, the man's helm was pierced from front to back. The girl watched on in absolute horror, as the body of her captor fell limp, and released her.
She stood, uncertain of whether or not she was next... Like a rabbit, waiting for a wolf to make its move, she showed no signs of moving from the spot.
"Go. Now!" the voice commanded, breaking her out of her trance "Yes! I'm sorry!" she blurted out, before running as fast as her trembling legs could carry her.
Little did the dark knight know, that he was being watched... The blonde from the tavern had seen him from afar, and was in awe of his actions...
The dark knight turned, his eye catching the fair haired soldier “Don’t just stand there girl. Help with the bodies”
