Celebrate the grape harvest in Equisheim, France, with this delightful combination of fresh Alsatian white asparagus, smoked bacon, and creamy Munster cheese, all baked to perfection and paired with the exquisite flavors of Gewürztraminer wine.
Ingredients: 500g of fresh Alsatian white asparagus. 200g of Munster cheese. 200g of smoked Alsace bacon. 1 bottle of Gewrztraminer wine. 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Salt and pepper to taste.
Instructions: Set the oven to 180C 350F and heat it up. Cut the asparagus stalks off at the ends and peel them. Put a slice of bacon around each spear of asparagus. Spread olive oil on a baking sheet and place the asparagus that has been wrapped on it. Add pepper and salt. Put it in an oven that is already hot and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the asparagus is soft. Cut the Munster cheese into very thin strips. Take the asparagus out of the oven and top it with the Munster cheese. Put it back in the oven and melt and bubble the cheese for 5 minutes. Warm it up and serve it with a glass of Gewrztraminer wine.
