Ohhh I got a set of random Qs after getting stuck driving thru a torrential downpour. Good time to think. In no particular order:
1. What rock or mineral best represents Judith?
2. What would Judith, Hans, and Walter drive in your story (car wise-- but also would anybody have a pilot's or boaters license)?
3. What are Judith's, Hans', and Walter's guilty pleasures?
Ohhh I got a set of random Qs after getting stuck driving thru a torrential downpour. Good time to think. In no particular order:
1. What rock or mineral best represents Judith? Ooooh good question! To be honest, I have not thought about this before now, so this is just me spit balling a bit. At first glance, I would say that she is a combo of Labradorite and Amethyst, but there are definitely elements of rose quartz and salt. Labradorite conveys courage and mysticism, because she is a fighter and survivor before anything else and is well acquainted with the supernatural (because letās be honest here, no one is initiated into the world of the supernatural without a traumatic event). Rose quartz is for love, because she has a big heart of gold and wants nothing but the best for those she cares about, and even for those she doesnāt care about. Hans often calls her his ālaughing girlā because sheās so full of light, love, and laughter, whereas Walter refers to her as āsweetheartā when itās just the three of them (but never with company or in public). When she was spooked by a large spider in the kitchen, she stopped the guys from killing it, and told them, āJust because Iām scared of something, that doesnāt give me the right to kill it.ā And promptly made them take it outside. Salt because people view salt as mundane and normal, but it is anything but mundane. Literal battles have been fought over salt, and there is the saying of ābeing worth your weight in saltā which references that some Roman soldiers were paid in salt; it was that valuable! Think about it, salt can either make a dish or ruin it, but everyone and everything needs it to some degree. Amethyst is said to be incredibly protective, healing, and purifying, which is a big facet of Judithās personality. She is VERY protective of Walter and Hans almost to a fault. But she also very nurturing and loving; a part of her role/job is to heal the fractured pieces of Walterās mind, so that he is āfit for duty againā but she takes this very personally and is very dedicated to Walter and Hans as well. The time period my story is set in is during the 30 year gap where Alucard is AWOL. The United Nations and the world leaders are very concerned about a repeat of Londonās fall. Hans & Walter have been captured and charged with war crimes, but are also seen as potential assets (mostly Walter though, thanks to Integraās intervention). The UN needed a handler that could control both of them, similar to Intrega with Alucard and Seras. But they also needed someone who could heal Walterās broken mind and fracture soul. So for about ten years, Walter rejected every single one, and even tried to kill a few. Even with Integra strongly advocating for Walterās rehabilitation, World Leaders were about to give up and terminate both Walter and Hans and put an end to the program⦠That is, until Judith walked through their cell door, and Walter was just like, āHer. I want her.ā Obviously thereās a bit more too it then that, like her empathic abilities comes in to play and Walter having a fucked up sense of possession also playing a factor, and Hans also accepting her, but this is pretty much the Coles Notes version.
2. What would Judith, Hans, and Walter drive in your story (car wise-- but also would anybody have a pilot's or boaters license)?
Walter definitely would have had his piloting licence before the fall of London, but because he is officially listed as ādeadā, he doesnāt have it anymore. Same goes for Hans; he does not have his licence for even cars because he is officially listed as amongst the dead. Itās easier to hide war criminals and assets when they donāt legally exist. That being said, even though they no longer exist on paper, it doesnāt stop either of them from driving whatever they want. Judith gets paid handsomely by her employers for her job as both jailer and handler for two supernatural war criminals, so she buys them whatever they want. Walter drives a vintage looking Rolls Royce that started out as a project car he and Judith worked on, but he also likes the Sonata he had talked Judith into buying for herself. Judith prefers her old beaters that she fixes up, but they drive Walter and Hans batty because they are always breaking down; they also just want her to be safe and not driving a death trap. Her old 1995 tracker is her favourite bruiser. Meanwhile, Hans prefers something that can accommodate his large frame, so he tends to go for something roomier like a landrover, or even the Sontata. He avoids Judithās beaters like the plague, because she always has the seats as far forward as she can get them and itās always a hassle for him to readjust everything for him; sheās a petit woman but next to him, she looks like a child. They do eventually convince her to scrap the tracker, buy herself a Kona, and let them use the Sontata, lol.
3. What are Judith's, Hans', and Walter's guilty pleasures?
SO MANY! But Iām going to try to give just my favourites. Walter likes taking a soak in the tub with Judithās fancy bath products, but he would never admit it. He also loves the taste of lemons, so whenever he catches Judith eating anything lemony, heāll corner her to steals a kiss out of eye sight of anyone (he claims itās because he wants to taste the lemon but Judith and Hans are not fooled). This pageantry almost always devolves into her smacking him away so that she enjoy her treat. Sometimes sheāll go as far as sneaking lemon squares into the pantry to eat them outside of Walterās notice; it rarely works, but she tries. Hans is a simple man of simple pleasures. Hans likes to nap with Judith on the couch, but only during the winter because she over heats easily and the game is over if she wakes up grumpy from being too warm; she is a daughter of the ice and snow and strongly prefers the cold. During the summer, heāll nap with Walter because he also gets over heated easily, and Walter is a heatsink (Judith and Hans often fight over who gets to use Walter to cool off). He also loves to nap in the barn with the cows, especially in the hay loft. Donāt ask how he gets the heifers up there, no one has quite figured that out yet. He also loves running through the snow as a wolf, while Judith joyfully following along in her snowshoes with the dogs running and playing around them. Judithās guilty pleasure is rescuing animals, she has everything from a Saw Wet owl named Erasmus, an orange Maine Coon named Kingsley that likes to ride Hansā shoulders, a Raven named Nimue that favours Walter (much to his annoyance), a parakeet named Rooster that likes to swear (also to Walterās annoyance), but her hugest soft spot is for abused and discarded dogs. Both Walter and Hans love walking the dogs that Judith rescues, despite constantly telling her, āno more dogs!ā They both have their own favourites. No surprise, Hansā favourites are Ester (f), a seven year old King German Sheppard, Suede a three year old Mastif / Pitbull mix (f) take from an illegal dog fighting ring, and Shadow (f) the black wolf/dog hybrid that was seized from an illegal breeder. Walterās favourite is Bathseba (f), her seven year old husky; you can usually find her curled on Walter while he sleeps or right by his side when heās awake. He straight up baby talks to this dog when he thinks no one is listening; this is an endless source of amusement for Hans and Judith. Judithās other guilty pleasure is sweets and books; her bedroom is practically a library with snacks squirreled away everywhere. So much so, that the guys wonder how long before the floor gives out from the sheer weight of all of her books. Also, tattoos. She has so many tattoos. Part of it is because she loves the artwork, part of it is to cover up her scars.Ā
