Okay, but I was thinking of Trollhunter Bryn from my @we-are-the-trollhunters thing, and I’m still laughing at the thought of her being half-changling & actually having a troll form that’s only accessible via gaggle tack. Bc honestly, that would be SUCH a hilarious turn of events (and very apropo for my biological dad to be a reason why Changelings have such bad reps).
So with Blinky being sure there’s a spy somewhere, he’d want Bryn to have a gaggletack just in case. However, because her work prevented her from coming one day, he decided to bring it himself.
Cue sudden transformation shenanigans~
Bryn freaking out bc “YOU IT’S SUPPOSED TO REVEAL CHANGELINGS, NOT TURN ME INTO A TROLL!”
Blinky: “IT IS which means... GREAT GRONKA MORKA, YOU’RE A CHANGELING!!!”
Bryn: “BLINKOUS FRIGGIN’ GALADRIGAL, I HAVE BEEN HUMAN MY ENTIRE LIFE AND HAVE OVER 10 PERSONAL WITNESSES TO PROVE IT!!!”
Alternatively, Bryn being transformed after she gets home and is caught by someone in the JO trying to rush back to trollmarket bc BLINKY YOUR DUMB HORSESHOE IS DEFECTIVE! I WANT A REFUND! CHANGE ME BACK YOU DUMB, SIX EYED HOOLIGAN!
Watch her be found by Bular or Strickler, or both
bular just holding a sword to her wanting answers, while Strickler is like “Well, one more incident of jack-holery to chalk up to ol’ James Bryn. B\” She’d do her best to keep the amulet hidden tho can you imagine if it suddenly appeared on her bc STRESS? just this sudden “omg a changeling is the next trollhunter”
It’d probably be easier to navigate things if only Strickler found her. Bc c’mon, if she’s trying to get jobs (possibly multiple ones as like, a janitor at the school and a receptionist at the hospital Dr. Lake works at), and she’s staying with the Lakes until she can get enough funds to (initially) get home to Utah, then she’s bound to meet Strickler at some point, right?
Bonus if he meets her before she gets the gaggle tack.
Also quick note: the way I figure the changeling working/not working at certain times is that Bryn has never been exposed to heartstone energy, thus the trollside of her changeling dna is dormant until she goes to Trollmarket with Blinky & has her row with Draal. Gotta bask in the beauty of that heartstone, y’all. wake up those dormant troll genes to add to your already gremlin self.~
