As to how/why I started officially RPing her? Well, I’d written for her before, in a number of small drabbles/ficlets, as well as a fanfiction I’ve not yet finished. At first my main blog, legendofstormfall, was for my OC, Stormfall, who had a Portal!Verse. If Chell was needed in the plot, I’d be willing to RP her as well. Then I started becoming more involved with Portal RPers, and saw some memes that would yield interesting plots with her. So I said, why not, I’ll try her out for a thread or two. Then, people started requesting I use her more, and sent starters for her. Over time, she just sort of became my main muse, and eventually I made this side blog for her, just a little thing. Didn’t expect this much popularity- now I regret having made this only as a side blog. I wish I’d made it separately.

I do think she was truly relieved to see him. I really do. Maybe there was a small part of her that wished he hadn’t for whatever reason. But when I say small, I mean small. Microscopic. Her reaction shows relief.

//Oh God. Well, it’s made her even more likely to stand up for herself. It’s also made her follow the law more, I think. Being chancellor could conflict with the fact that she has taken the Hippocratic Oath, because as chancellor she might need to make decisions that get people hurt. (Like giving Finn to the Grounders). I think there’s gonna be a lot of conflict. But I also think she’s strong enough to handle it.

I always have to have silence or classical music when writing anything, so that gets turned on when I sit down to do drafts: I do make sure that I can actually hear him saying what I'm writing as well, since I find that helps keep things in character. I do find that he picks up some of my personal traits, sometimes - like pushing his hands through his hair and pressing his hands to his face - but a lot of them I'll leave in, since they suit his body language and his attitude. That's probably why I like him so much as a muse, actually - he's really quite easy for me to write!

Alex’s feelings for his brother are all twisted up inside him and he can’t really dip into them without feeling just a lot of anger and bitterness at how his brother treated him and he hates feeling that way because it just makes him feel nasty. He blames himself for leaving his sister so long around the guy, so his own guilt is all twisted up in that knot too. He tends to cover it up with platitudes when people talk to him about it. But there’s a lot of unexplored hurt there. But down at the center of that knot, there's a whole root of betrayal that goes deep. A part of him is always gonna be that little kid who looked up to his big brother, only to get a slap in the face for his trouble.

Half of the warehouse was filled with stacks and stacks of empty and damaged crates. He lived in the upper loft of this warehouse, and slept on a blanket that was in turn spread on a piece of tarp covered plywood, suspended on a packing pallet to keep him away from rats. He kept his food, water, and a few paperbacks inside an undamaged crate, which he tied closed with a piece of baling wire. 

// Alex has been a character that I have tried to set in several different time periods- I started off with setting him in the Great Depression but that story never took off. He always had a little sister, and he always ended up leaving home, and becoming isolated from his family as a result. Alex is actually much happier when he’s on the move- when he’s stuck in one place he starts to feel trapped. When I stuck him in Night Vale, he was very unhappy at first, and tried everything he could to leave.I didn’t actually start out to isolate him, it’s just something that became part of his backstory.

// Alex has always been a fan of Harry Houdini and other escape artists and magicians. So when he ran away, the first way he thought of making money was by performing simple magic tricks and easy escape routines with a length of rope. People don’t tend to give street buskers any great amount of money, though, so it wasn’t a great source of income. He still uses the escape techniques occasionally, as they come in handy for work.
