Next up in listing my favourite aftg ships for individual characters.

Jean-Yves Moreau

1. Jean/Renee (something something this is the only universe where they stood a chance and the fact that the timing was still wrong breaks my freakin' heart, I just really love the idea of them finding their way back to each other later in life when they're both ready to trust that they deserve good things)

2. Jean/Neil (Love me some misplaced forever partners. I think this works best in Raven AUs but I like lots of versions of them, doesn't have to be romantic to melt by brain.)

3. Jean/Jeremy (the potential is there and I'm sure by the time the next two books are out these two will have altered by brain chemistry but I feel disappointedly normal about them so far)

4. Jean/Kevin/Jeremy (feels indulgent in a way that I enjoy but find hard to picture as a real thing. Still Jean deserves the world so he would only need to openly express a desire to be with both of them for me to get on board right quick)

5. Jean/Renee + Jean/Jeremy (for obv reasons I do not ship Renee and Jeremy but I do think they're a more realistic "Jean has two hands" outcome than most.

6. Jean/Neil/Andrew (I just think it could be neat)

7. Jean/Andrew (no idea how this would realistically occur but I love the idea anyway)

8. Jean/Aaron (I've seen a couple interpretations of these two getting together that were really cool. It would be way higher on the list if imagining Aaron not being with Katelyn didn't make me itchy)

I thought it would be fun to rank my favourite aftg ships for each character. Starting things off with Neil Josten himself. Fair warning, it gets goofy.

1. Neil/Andrew (top Neil pairing, I love their canon relationship, I also love seeing them still together in AUs)

2. Neil/Matt/Dan (genuinely so underrated, pairs best with Kandrew universes imo)

3. Neil/Jean (Raven!aus or Andrew has to be gone for some other reason, but I Love me some misplaced forever partners)

4. Neil/Andrew/Kevin (a classic, I like romantic and qpr versions)

5. Neil/Jean/Kevin (Raven!aus only)

6. Neil/Kevin (can usually only picture them as pre-Kandriel, but I love versions of things where they get together first and Andrew angsts for a while about being left out)

7. Neil/Aaron (Andrew has to be gone, but then it's a guilty fave)

8. Neil/Matt (Kandrew universes/ when Matt and Dan are polyam but they don't open things up until after she moves away)

9. Neil/Andrew/Renee (ok hear me out, I love a version of things where Andrew and Renee have a long standing fwb arrangement - they care for each other but it's not exactly romantic (she's aromantic and he's demiromantic) and then Renee notices Andrew falling Hard for Neil and just supports him endlessly. Neil is initially wary of getting in the way of what they have and Renee is unsure of whether she should back away from things but while Neil is slow to warm up to her I'm a sucker for imagining Renee and Neil as eventually Very close even if it never turns sexual or romantic between the two of them. I just think they would be able to understand each other so well)

10. Neil/Ichirou (butcher!Neil AUs, not usually my thing but every once in a while)

11. Neil/Allison/Seth (fwb only, obv this doesn't exactly jive with Neil's canon sexuality but I love the idea of Allison and Seth trying to one up each other by both trying to seduce Neil and he's just 1000% done with them most of the time but he's also like "sure keep trying to piss each other off by providing me with orgasms")

Next up in my favourite aftg ships for individual characters:

Aaron Minyard 💚

This is probably gonna be the shortest list because while I have been a multishipper all my life, there's a small part of me that feels cruel separating Aaron and Katelyn even hypothetically.

1. Aaron/Katelyn (I love love love the two of them together, and I have so many thoughts about their lives together after canon. A true power couple.)

2. Aaron/Katelyn/Kevin (for a long time I didn't understand the appeal of the three of them together besides how hilarious it would be as an adjustment for Andrew but I've read enough fics that were really well crafted to become a convert. I see the vision and it's lovely)

3. Aaron/Neil (their other options have to be absent for me to get on board, but then it's one of my favourite aftg ships. I just think it would be soo funny for Aaron to realize he likes Neil of all people and I genuinely think that a version of Neil that was a little more empathetic to Aaron's situation would be someone he'd have a hard time not falling for)

Next up in ranking my favourite aftg ships for each individual character.

Kevin Day.

1. Kevin/being the almost third

(cheating a bit because this dynamic covers way more than one ship, but I honestly think Kevin works best as the guy kinda hovering around a couple and being super weird but somehow still necessary. Whether that's with Neil and Andrew. Jean and Jeremy. Katelyn and Aaron. The man has range as a hanger on. This dynamic is also a great environment for aroace Kevin, which isn't always how I headcanon him, but it's one of my favourite versions)

2. Kevin/Andrew (excellent on it's own or as pre-Kandriel)

3. Kevin/Neil/Andrew (my preferred version of them is covered by the first point but I do think that romantic Kandriel is also excellent)

4. Kevin/Matt (I just think they would have made a really hot fwb situation)

5. Kevin/Allison (see above)

6. Kevin/Allison/Seth (I mentioned in my Neil post that I really love the idea of Allison and Seth trying to one up the other by seducing the same person. I think this makes way more sense with Kevin than with Neil even if I like it a little less)

7. Kevin/Thea (the books sold me on the potential more than the relationship itself but I do like the idea of them both working on themselves/healing and finding their way back to each other)

8. Kevin/Jean (the tragedy, the pining, it's a recipe I would normally eat up and I can and do sometimes but I honestly prefer Jean getting to move on from his feelings for Kevin most of the time)

Ok, continuing ranking my favourite aftg ships for each character. Next up: Andrew Minyard

1. Andrew/Neil (they're in love your honour. no, but for real, they're one of my top ships of all time, not just for this series)

2. Andrew/Kevin (it's messy, it's intense, it's an instant fave whenever I see it)

3. Andrew/Neil/Kevin (a classic, I like romantic and qpr versions)

4. Andrew/Jeremy (ok so I can only really picture it in AUs with either no Neil or as a fling from their past but I Love them)

5. Andrew/Renee (usually a fwb/qpr situation in my head and not a romantic thing but their relationship is so important to me)

6. Andrew/Neil/Renee (get on my level it would be great)

7. Andrew/Jean (Is Jeremy dead? Is Neil? How did this happen? Idk but I don't care. I think they could be so interesting)

Next up in my favourite aftg ships for individual characters:

Nicky Hemmick

1. Nicky/Erik (Erik Klose is a dreamboat, and if we got to see more of him in canon, I think this would be one of my favourite side ships, still very fond. I love that Nicky has his happy ending waiting for him, that there's someone who loves and accepts him and makes him feel safe)

2. Nicky/HR training (ok this is a joke but also it's not. I'm desperate for Nicky to find healthier ways to make sure he's not surrounded by homophobes)

3. Nicky/that random guy from his improv class (I just think it's funny how he rolled with the banquet madness)

4. Nicky/Erik/Kevin (not as a serious romantic relationship but I'm pretty much always down to throw Kevin into a situation. I think it would be really funny if Nicky had been jokingly offering to be Kevin's "practice hookup" after Kevin comes to terms with his bisexuality and Kevin is all eye rolls about it and "focus on your own fiancé" and then he meets Erik and is like "Oh no." And then the three of them start up a no strings attached set up where Kevin gets a night with them whenever Erik visits)
