simple shading minitut
Lay your flats down
Clip a NORMAL layer on top of it, fill with white.
Using your favorite blending brush, color in the shading. It’s helpful to isolate the shadows without getting distracted by the flats.
Change the layer settings to MULTIPLY
Tada!! Be sure to change up your shading color depending on the base color, and flip back and for regularly. You can finish it this way or merge the layers together and render the shading further!

I was revisiting this old unfinished piece and was messing around with a lot of functions in Clip Studio I've never tried out before. When I got to the multiply layer... let's just say I could see why it's so popular to use.
I normally have a horrible eye when it comes to colors, and I just can't express how strange it is seeing something I did look so cohesive. It's absolutely wild to me.
