28 days ago I joined a little Facebook group with 19 other people interested in healthy living. It didnāt matter which program or products we wanted to use and no one was going to make us do boot camp or videos unless you wanted to.Ā It was the brain child of my client Karla. Iām super thankful for her initiative! And thankful to the ladies for their honesty, safe space and lack of judgement. Weāre still kicking it in the ācool clubā as we call it. We fall off, we eat pizza, we gain weight, we lose weight, we drink, we cry...itās real shit show called āReal Lifeā.Ā
I bought a scale at the start of this which is quite possibly the most horrifying thing that a 35 year old woman who is more into popcorn/wine/men than her health can do. It was all very Bridget Jones Diary the day I stepped on and started. British voice over, crying, bingeing and wobbly bits. Ugh.Ā
I usually get on a healthy kick once a year, in January...like the rest of the majority of the population. Iām always conscious that I ensure my pants fit and I donāt have to buy a bigger size but itās usually my face & boobs that get out of control when I gain weight. I have a joke about my 4 chins and my quest for only 2.Ā
That was the goal of joining this group & journey...2 chins & when I put on my jeans that I didnāt instantly crave muffins. Being home for the winter I thought this would be the perfect time to get committed and dedicated to Tinder something that I know works for me.Ā
Basically what Iāve been doing:
- I have a cup of Arbonne Herbal Detox Tea the very first thing when I wake up in the morning and the last thing before I go to bed. I usually use the same tea bag for morning & night. I sometimes brew some and create cold tea so I can keep some in the fridge.Ā
- I already have a Arbonne Protein Meal Replacement Shake for breakfast every day. Iām not too into eating in the morning unless itās brunch and there is drinking so when I discovered protein powder, it just works for me. Iām also not that fancy with this whole protein shake thing...I keep things simple with 2 scoops of Protein Meal Replacement Powder (either chocolate or vanilla), 1/2 scoop fibre boost, almond milk to fill. I usually spice it a few different ways depending on what I feel like.Ā
- Meal prep. This has been one of the biggest game changers and I realize the very big upside to not travelling for a living. I meal prep Sunday or Monday for 3 days of evening meals and freeze extra. That usually looks like a protein & veggie & healthy carb. Iām super lucky that I only have to feed myself and that Iām not against eating leftovers or the same thing days in a row, for a fat kid I actually donāt even really like food that much. - I replace 2 of my meals with shakes and on busy days I might only do the breakfast one. Iāve learned that Breakfast is so important and so is fibre dammit!Ā
- Back in June I replaced most of my morning cup of coffee with Arbonne Fizz Sticks. Low in calories, this effervescent drink contains select botanicals of green tea, guarana and ginseng, as well as B vitamins and chromium. AKA a healthier version of coffee or Red Bull with only 15 calories and the ability to help the body metabolize carbohydrates, fats and proteins. I still have at least 1 black coffee a week.Ā
- I personally weigh myself every day, I write it down daily on a white board which I hid from house guests under sneaky photos and pieces of paper. I find it keeps me more accountable. Also I have never laughed harder at people praying to poop! āItās weigh in day, Iām drinking 3 cups of coffee to clean me out.ā You laugh at the very thought of this until you have weigh in day and start praying to be the lightest in all the land!Ā
- I fall off the wagon, I get back up. In the last 28 days Iāve included in my meals:Ā
ALL THE HALLOWEEN CANDY!Ā
A whole small tub of Ben & JerryāsĀ
It goes on and on and on. I fall off for sure but I just get back up and back on the wagon and focus less on beating myself up aboutĀ āfailingā.Ā
Note:Ā I personally use Arbonne nutritional products because I have an Arbonne business that I love & adore and I feel the same way about the products.Ā
TODAY, the 28th day was a HUGE win for me. I officially crossed over 10lbs down...10.8lbs down actually. 10.8 lbs in 28 days with dedication but trip ups.Ā
I decided that it was time to measure again as well. I have this tailors measuring tape from when I took sewing lessons in grade school, who knew it would come in handy this late in life? I was also curious beyond belief because I had breakfast with my ex-boyfriend a couple days ago and we had a weird exchange that went kind of like this:
Ā Him āPlease donāt lose too much weight.ā
Me:Ā āWhat? Why? What do you mean?ā
Him: āI can tell youāre losing weight and your boobs look smaller, please donāt lose your boobsā
I loved this man so all I could really do at the time is laugh!Ā Figuring that someone Iāve known intimately for a long while might notice that much of a difference I needed to measure now for both science and humour. Ā
Neck - down 1 inch (Thatās like 1 full chin down)
Natural waist - down 2.5 inches
Pooch aka muffin top aka chubbiest part of belly - down 2 inches
Oprah arm - down .5 inch (rude)
Butt - down 3 inches (Sir Mix-a-Lot is also going to be sad)
Bust - down FOUR AND A HALF INCHES.Ā
Itās this cruel lady trick that the first place you lose weight is your boobs and the last place is your muffin top.Ā
Like why canāt we just reverse that?
Anyways, Iām not saying that what Iām doing is the right way or the wrong way but itās working for ME and Iām really looking forward to the next 28 days. This is anĀ āALL WINTER EXCURSIONā for miou akaĀ āIām staying in Canada this winter to try being Canadian and this thing Iāve heard about calledĀ āadultingā so what better time than now to take better care of my healthā. It seems like a long title but itās a work in progress, just like me.Ā
