Laura had no idea what happened, but for two days she had lost her powers. She couldn’t retract her claws, she could feel the lack of a healing factor in her body, and her heightened smell was gone. It was...terrifying. It was as if someone had cut off a limb, parts of her that she’d known since birth just suddenly slipped away. It made her feel vulnerable, and she hated vulnerable. She WASN’T supposed to be vulnerable. And the worst part? She couldn’t track Logan. She made a habit to seek after her former teammates when possible, check up on them, at least make sure they were doing okay. Logan most of all. She...well, after her experience with her mom...Logan was the closest thing to family she had left. She didn’t want to hurt him, even just the idea threatened the fragile composure she had managed to build up since regaining her powers. Being so close yet not able to be around him hurt, but it was better this way. She, in any other circumstance, wouldn’t dare breaking that wall after what she did.
But it was two whole days, and she had no idea if he was okay. And that couldn’t happen. So, without even thinking, she left the shelter, seeking out his scent. The gentle drizzle of rain falling down the evening sky didn’t bother her in most cases, but today she was not in the mood. It would slow her down. She moved as discreetly as possible. Sure, she was in district X, but she still liked to avoid being seen whenever possible. Sure enough, she found him. He was alive. Good. That’s all she needed to know. She turned to leave, but in a combination both of her haste to leave and the slippery ground, she pulled the most unstealth assassin move in the history books. She slipped. Right into the middle of the sidewalk. Where he happened to be walking.Â
